Pelosi Leads Rowdy Rally for Madrid (NM Dim Candidate)
The Albuquerque Journal ^ | August 18, 2006 | Jeff Jones

Posted on 08/18/2006 7:07:31 AM PDT by CedarDave

House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi on Thursday at an Albuquerque rally called Republican Rep. Heather Wilson a "handmaiden of the oil companies" who has been raking in campaign money from Big Oil as gas prices soar.

Wilson spokesman Enrique Carlos Knell did not directly counter a Madrid/Pelosi assertion that Wilson has taken nearly $400,000 in campaign money from oil and gas interests since she took office in 1998.

But Knell said Wilson's gasoline price-gouging bill, which passed the House earlier this year, shows Wilson is not beholden to oil and gas firms. And Knell had other sharp words for Madrid and Pelosi.

"Nancy Pelosi is a liberal with a liberal agenda," Knell said of the California Democrat and minority leader who could become speaker of the House if Democrats win a majority in November. "And she aggressively recruited fellow liberal Patricia Madrid to run for Congress so they can advance their liberal agenda together."

Madrid said gasoline was under $1.50 a gallon three summers ago— a figure that has since skyrocketed to more than $3 a gallon. ...

"Like the rest of the Bush Congress, Heather Wilson is beholden to Big Oil," Madrid charged. "... When she goes to Washington, it is not you she represents— it is them she represents."

Subsidies that Madrid and Pelosi referred to are contained in a sweeping $14.5 billion energy bill signed in New Mexico last year by President Bush. All five members of New Mexico's congressional delegation, including Democratic 3rd District Rep. Tom Udall and Democratic Sen. Jeff Bingaman, approved the measure. And Knell said it was "disingenuous" for Pelosi to travel to New Mexico to essentially criticize them.

The liberals have chosen to take on the oil and gas industry, which is the biggest contributer to the NM state coffers. Unfortunately, they have a really big disconnect between their NIMBY/Green agenda, exploration and development of oil and natural gas resources and the price at the pump. Blaming the oil companies for high prices when you handcuff their activities in the lower US and Alaska is the height of hypocrisy and I hope that the NM O&G industry will put up some information ads not supporting any individual candidacy but to let people know where money for Richardson's railroad, spaceport, liberal handouts really comes from.

Also, for folks outside NM, we have had a wild ride this spring with the federal trial of the NM state treasurer for bribes, kickbacks, influence peddling, etc. It ended in a hung jury (probably a FOB on it). In any event, this was seen coming back in the late 90's when Attorney General Madrid was notified of the problems in that office. But being the good Dim that she is, she ignored the information and the problems continued until the Feds indicted the perps. Blind as usual to Democratic crony corruption, she is trying to use the current high price of fuels to step into Congress. With her background of ignoring real problems if they involve friends, she will fit right in with the rest of the Democrats if she succeeds in defeating Wilson.

The ABQ Journal editorial blasting Madrid for her non-actions back in the 90's can be found here:

Madrid said gasoline was under $1.50 a gallon three summers ago— a figure that has since skyrocketed to more than $3 a gallon. She spoke of one Rio Rancho family that is now paying more for gas each month than they are for their mortgage payment.

So that family is having a tough time with transportation costs? Let them take Richardson's Railroad. Oh, yeah, I forgot. It doesn't go there.

Another text-book example of the total bankruptcy of the libs when it comes to anything but trying to spin any issue into reality for them. This country should know by now that if Pelosi opens her mouth, juvenile political leftist humor pours out. The libs are still "stuck on stupid" and their agenda, lacking any substance or purpose whatsoever, other than the aquisition of power, is totally transparent.

Let it keep coming. One could almost start writing comic books about thier crime, corruption, irrelevance, irresponsibility, carelessness, buffoonery and outright anti-Americanism.

Keep it up Nancy -- you are one of the best reasons people should throw the libs in the toilet for good.

Does that Rio Rancho family commute to Los Alamos every day? Or maybe they have a low mortgage payment. Sounds like grandstanding political Bravo Sierra to me.

Bitching about high fuel prices? Time to carpool.

If the rats get into power we'll be back to double-nickle speed limits and gas rationing. The price may be low, but you won't be able to go anywhere either (unless you fly in the jet used by King Bill courtesy of the NM taxpayer).

Well for the most part property in NM is still pretty cheap, so they might not be paying as much as one might think.
