Suicide of the West

Denial is no longer a river in Egypt but a British pathology.

By Melanie Phillips

When America was attacked on 9/11 by Islamic jihadis, it was said that this was a doomsday wake-up call for the West. Within a short while, however, much of Britain decided that 9/11 was actually America’s fault and that Israel was at the core of the problem.

When Britain was attacked last year on 7/7 by Islamic jihadis, it was said that this was a doomsday wake-up call for the U.K. Within a short time, however, much of the country decided that it was Britain’s own fault on account of “Islamophobia” and the war in Iraq.

It's the same here.

I have never understood how the Muslims have been permitted the lie that the US, and the West generally, want to destroy them.

If that were true, with the military power, cultural and technological superiority, political and social supremacy of the US and the West, Islam would be history long since....!!!

At the time of the Crusades, there were hardly any British Muslims.

And, another point totally missed.

It will never be "too late" for the West, but the later the real wake up call, the bloodier the war will be.

''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

The west could loose this war without any blood. Much of the world is increasingly non-western and non-Christian. All civilizations have a decendency at some point. If the west abrogates its culture and sovereignty, they will lose by default. islam is in acendency and must be stopped by a clear perception in the west that the threat imperils western existence. If this doesn't happen soon, the west will wake up and find that most of its citizens face mecca five times a day, and the president of the United States is a Muslim. Most westerners are just worrying about their physical safety and "terrorism" they do not perceive that the very existence of their political, social and cultural institutions are at risk. We are not reproducing and retaining enough people who share western values and culture. The world will soon be dominated by groups who have no understanding or appreciation of western thought. This is true not only in the non-western world (Asia, middle east, south America, Africa) but also true in western nations as well.

Terrorism is the deliberate killing of innocents for shock value, and it is a deliberate decision made by people who use it. There is no justification for its use, ever.

''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

I look at this differently. Terrorism is a western construct to describe vicious unprovoked attacks on groups or individuals. The attacker realizes that no society, government, armed force, national boundary, or social contract can ever fully protect one individual from another. The attacker is simply more ruthless and purposeful than those attacked. We in the west, with our armaments, nations, and our social veneer have abrogated our innate right to self defense to the state. We expect protection in return for subservience. Interesting how the founders gave us the second amendment. We all have an innate right to defend our personage and property, but many of us have transferred that to the state, and rightfully so, in a just world. The problem is, the right can never be fully transferred. I thought about this the other day while driving. I saw a pickup truck in the next lane displaying a sticker that simply said...." I don't call 911!". I smiled to myself, and upon further reflection realized how profound that statement was. We must be ready to handle any attack ourselves, and show no fear.

Looked at from this point of view justification for terrorism is irrelevant. The only thing necessary is the proper defense. What is true on an individual level must then be carried to the societal level. A response to this type of unprovoked attack should simply produce an equally ruthless attack on the source. Again, at the point of attack no justification is necessary for the response. The United States must simply respond with the necessary ruthlessness to eliminate the threat. There is no world 911 to call here. We need to respond now! The response, by the way, needs no justification even though many innocents will be destroyed.

I did not propose that we don't respond with force (and other mechanisms). I simply said that the media has a role to play in defeating terrorism and they keep abrogating that role due to their tendency to find symmetry with all things political and social. And that hampers our ability to keep our focus and commitment.

This question is off subject, but I would like some help.

How often are Satellite phones used in normal urban areas? Do normal 'Joe's' use them? or are they mostly government, rural, or some kind of under cover device. Thanks for your help.

Your point does indeed escape me. What do the Crusades have to do with it?

What do the Crusades have to do with it?

If you read the article, she gets about halfway in when she starts her rant against the BBC and, essentially, blames all of the problems with the British Muslim jihadists on the BBC. Since we, essentially, faced this same situation in the Crusades, who does she blame for that? Her logic simply doesn't follow or make sense, given the history of Islam and its periodic attempts to take over the world.

Muslims are beginning to act like a real-life version of Pinky and the Brain except that, in their case, Pinky is in charge!!
