Yunis Mahmoud scored twice in three minutes midway through the second half as Iraq beat Palestine 3-0 on Thursday to move atop its Asian Cup qualifying group.
The victory gave Iraq six points and moved it past China ahead of Group E on goal difference. Mahmoud gave Iraq a 2-0 lead with goals in the 58th and 61st minutes, and Hawar Mullah Mohammed added the insurance in the 89th.
The Asian Cup finals will be held in July, jointly hosted by Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam.
The winners and runners-up from all six qualifying groups advance to the finals along with the four co-hosts.
In a related story, Palestinian soccer players blow themselves up, killing all involved, after losing a soccer match to Iraq.....film at 11.
In soccer?
3-0 is a veritable annihilation...
That's like 98-0 in REAL football.
That's a good story...errr event. I wish it could all be settled is such a civil manner.
None. They just sit in the dark and blame the Jews.
Sounds like they all went to a war and a soccer match broke out.
I'm expecting a lawsuit being filed by the ACLU and Cindy Sheehan to be named as honorary coach to the "Palestinian" team.
All i wanted to read is the object of kicking was the head of Nasrallah. I'm awaiting further updates.
Hey, I'm and optimist.
Now, was the 3-0 the score or the number of suicide bombers per team?
I can spell, I'm just too lazy tonight.
Oh I don't know...
Good question though....
Concerned FReepers want to...oh, wait, it IS a soccer story, which means there are NO concerned FReepers.
LOL
On to more important things, REAL football is back!!!
Oh, any people with a unique culture and history can be called a nation. There is a Palestinian nation. There shouldn't be a Palestinian state, however. I have no problem with Palestine as a sports country. Puerto Rico counts in the Olympics as a separate nation.
I wonder what shape that goat's head was in after all that....
