Well, I dont know abaout all that.
If one took the bible utterly literally, especially the old testament, its quite easy to justify almost any sort of murder and bloodshed.
Yet, christians, and even jews arent preached to (usually) by their priests that they should massacre unbelievers, and consequently nor do they do so.
Indeed, the old testament reads pretty much like chuck norris jokes.
I say take out the radical preachers. That should do it. If youre allowing men with eyepatches and hooks for hands preach bloody murder in mosques in your own country, how can you expect any less?
How's that? The commands in Deuteronomy pertain to the Israelite takeover of the Promised Land, and when was the last time you met an Amalakite?
And when you, instead of comparing individual quotes, compare the over-arching theme of the books and the nature of the interpretive framework resulting from centuries of scholarship, there's a very obvious difference between the Koran and the Bible.
The important distinction is that the OT isn't using the present tense. The Koran explicitly exhorts its followers to lie and do murder - now.
Plus - I forgot :0) - the OT has "Thou shalt Not Commit Murder". Any similar commandments in the earlier parts of the Koran are countermanded by the later sections.
