CBS 4 Boston ^ | 8/17/06

(CBS4) BOSTON Criminal charges could be filed Thursday against a Vermont woman who caused a disturbance aboard a London-to-Virginia jet that was diverted to Logan Airport.

59-year-old Catherine Mayo is being held by federal authorities in Boston.

Investigators say she was a claustrophobic passenger who became upset and interfered with the flight crew on United Airlines flight 923 Wednesday morning. The pilot declared an in-flight emergency and landed the plane at Logan. The Boeing 767 was escorted by two F-15 jets based out of Otis Air National Guard Base on Cape Cod.

Passengers say Mayo paced the aisles and peppered her incoherent mutterings with the word "Pakistan." They said two plainclothes men on board and flight attendants tackled the woman. She was handcuffed while the flight was diverted.

After a day filled with conflicting reports about what she was carrying, an FBI spokeswoman confirmed Mayo had a screwdriver, lighters and matches when she was subdued...

May refer to the six steps comment?!?

This series of verses gives us insight into the steps taken by our Prophet to come to know himself, to face up to fear and bear persecution in hopes of coming to live in peace with integrity. Just as the Prophet took these great steps, we can follow him in small steps.

Six steps toward knowing your self and your Lord

If you habitually embrace lies and half-truths (motivated by emotionalism), eventually you're going to separate yourself completely from reality.

True. Someone else mentioned that she might have a brain tumour or have suffered a stroke, if I remember correctly. Her thinking certainly seems off.

She's such a moron, she can't even get the quote from one of my favorite MASH characters, Dr. SIDNEY Freedman, right. It's "Ladies and gentlemen, take my advice. Pull down your pants and slide on the ice."

Interesting find; but I'm surprised. A Koran-quoting, "gay and lesbian" Islamic website?

This is a crucial point, so let’s dwell on it a little. It is crucial for us queer people, lesbians, transgendered folk and gays, to root our spirituality in an appreciation and care for the body...
That, my dear friends, is a way to live at peace with integrity—may we help each other to find it, because nobody finds it alone. That is the way to live as a muslim. That is nothing more and nothing less than islam. "

Well, she got the pull down your pants part right! (As for the "ice," hmmmm.)

OK, so why was there a retraction yesterday from the director of the TSA, even though his quotes left the door open?

You know as well as I that the MSM was directed to 'retract' the initial statements as the gov needed time to do the 'BDA' from the entire incident.

I think the higher ups realized that the truth was going to come out regardless because of the number of witnesses involved and they (the feds) decided they need to go on and tell the truth. Unfortunately if any terror ties (which were immediately denied by the officials) are now coming into light before our friends in the NSA, CIA etc., have had time to react in foreign lands in that I am pretty sure her 'boy friend' and associates are well hidden now.

People in the government rarely feel the need to tell the truth unless there is a distinct gain from it. As in many businesses, people are informed on a need to know basis.

You ever had Top Secret accompanied with SCI, SSBI, and/or DIS clearances at the same time? Please do not try and tell me how such things can work / do work.

It's entertaining to speculate, however, it insults me personally that the LSM and some of the young crack pots in the system assume all in the general public are ignorant and stupid.

I do admire your calm disposition(s) from yesterday, and to some degree you called it as it would happen in the media. However, within 1 hour of landing and Mayo in custody, the OIC's already knew who they had and the risk(s) involved. If there was an agent already on board whether Brit, US or other, then we knew who 'we' had and her ties before the plane was ever landed.

One of the beauties of counterintelligence is making it look like somebody goofed and letting something 'slip'.

And exactly where in the MSM and government pressers did you find out that this woman was based in Pakistan? One would be led to ASSUME that she was simply returning home to Braintree, VT after a weekend in London. FR broke her Paki connection, and now the MSM (Fox anyway) is looking into it.

Looks as if the michigan.live website is following the Paki connection now (link posted by evets at #130).

I don't know if you've been to the thread yet, but it appears a woman is also involved in the W VA airport story. I'm just too burned out from this one to follow it.

I want to know where the "claustrophobic" term came from yesterday.....one of the arab writers at Reuters or AP?

It was picked up by 1000s of news organizations and the whole incident was summarily written off.

"This book was necessary, we thought back in the mid-1980s, because our old comrades, instead of allowing the time of their lives to fade into the national historical newsreel, were intent on mythologizing the Sixties (and themselves) in a way that not only evaded but intentionally clouded the truth. This was more than a narcissistic desire to make the era into a left-wing version of Camelot; these mythmakers and nostalgia artists wanted to make the Movement’s “principles”—loathing for America’s power and revisionist contempt for its history—into a blueprint, an intellectual template that could be forced onto the country in the future even though their own brief moment on America’s center stage had ended in failure. We wanted to show what the era had really been all about—how those (including ourselves) who had dictated the agenda of the New Left had slid into an easy contempt for America some time during the Sixties and how this contempt had become the torch that lit their way into the future. We also wanted to show how, under the sway of a utopian fantasy of “social justice,” they (we) had laid siege to the values, institutions, styles and traditions that had made up the natural order of things in America for their parents and their parents’ parents. "

An excerpt and a lot of truth in that tidbit.

Horowitz is a straight thinker without a doubt.

Thanks for the correction on the correct spelling of the SF 9th Circus Court Land. I couldn't remember the spelling.

From Horowitz's comments, I continuously ponder the sheer numbers of these type people that are now filtered into positions of power and authority in government and corporate America.

The mind set of those discussed in the article, are probably like those picked on a lot in grade school, pacifist, and never could muster the spine to at least stand up to the real bullies even if it meant getting into trouble, getting a bloodied nose, black-eye, or worse case, getting one's butt kicked. Therefore, never having taken that step, (like myself on 3-4 occasions) will never understand why, as Americans, we are faced with a dire need to go after the cowardly bullies in the world who so badly seek to have everything the way they want it.

Having gotten the best of a bully or 2 myself, those black eyes and busted lips never really hurt all that much. Having not stood up would have been a deep cut all my life. The sad thing, it was something I never wanted, but those bullies were real and Sir Lancelot was nowhere to be found.

America had the purest form of democracy...

Interesting for an "American journalist based in Pakistan", Pakistan means "land of the pure." Like old Cathie.

"Indeed it is almost certainly her. People tend not to replace their posted photos frequently when aging (particulalry if they are aging under the Pakistani sun and getting sugar highs from drinking coke after coke). "

It could be that the plane moonbat is the mother of the Byrd letter writer.

Good point!! So, I reckon Sidney was on board coaching the Captain?

From an earlier post I pondered the question as to why the woman with 'claustrophobia' would make repeated trips back into the Lav? That's a small place for sure.

Back on the thread and pleased to see everyone kept digging! The more we learn, the more momentum we build, the more people read the thread, the more pajama-clad brains get to pondering, and the more we learn.

Awesome to see confirmation of the working theory that Mayo Moonbat connected to Dubai-London from Pakistan, but shocking to see that she bypassed Heathrow security by doing so!

And why was she carrying lighters? My gut is that she was either the mule, intending to supply them to other cohorts on the flight, or the designated "lighter" of something someone else was to prepare.

Perhaps someone (perhaps someone unknown to her) was supposed to set something up in the bathroom, and she would go in and light it? Maybe that's why she kept going in there, to see if it was ready? Maybe that person didn't get it done and she eventually freaked, having been mentally prepared to die a martyr's death on the flight?

Wonder if (and I'm not asking this to be gross or perverted) female martyrs are supposed to shave their bodies, as the males do? I wonder what condition she was in? Tell tale signs of her having planned to die? Wonder what she had in her checked luggage? Wonder what any mail sent to her relatives back home (and still in transit right now) might say?

True, but OTOH this woman is such a babbler, on so many websites, I think Al Qaeda would've found her a security risk to their operations.

But she's perfect for them if they want to do a test-run. In this case they might have been testing to see if someone passing through LHR from somewhere outside the new security zone could board a flight for the US without the additional screening.

For such a test, you wouldn't want to use any real soon-to-be or might-be terrorist; you'd want to use someone who could claim they were doing it as a stunt to prove how inept the process was. Mayo would seem to be perfect for that; as a rabidly anti-American journalist she could be counted upon to do what they asked because they could sell it to her as a great story.

What happened to her after she got on the plane for DCA was irrelevant to them.
