The Fresno/Central Valley Chapter cordially invites all FReepers and Lurkers in good standing to attend our 5th Annual Free Republic Rally and Tailgate Picnic (and FR's 10th Anniversary celebration) to be held on September 8th and 9th, 2006.
Our rally will begin at 6:30 pm and end at 8:30 pm Friday night, at the corner of Blackstone and Shaw in Fresno. Afterwards, the group will retire for dinner, refreshments and fellowship at a nearby restaurant (time and place to be announced).
Our tailgate pot-luck picnic will be at Woodward Park on Saturday, September 9th. We've reserved the "Gazebo" area for the full day. We'll probably start arriving about 1:00 pm and will dine and party till dark.
The entrance to Woodward Park is on Audubon Drive, just off Freeway 41 on the northern edge of Fresno. The Gazebo area is near the center of the park (see park map).
Bring your flags, banners, signs, family and children. Prepare to support your country and enjoy the company of your good FReeper friends!

Seems that the picnic has sneaked up on us this year. :)
Mrs. DFU got to go on her knitting cruise earlier in the year, so if time allows and I can change a few commitments, I'll be there. I have to behave, however. She has warned me that she will not bail me out if I get in trouble at a FReep demonstration.
Is there a bullhorn for Friday night? Do we need some chants?
I will see if we can find a bullhorn and yes we will need some chants.
The youth group from Riverdale Assembly of God church will be joining us so we will be forced to behave ourselves. :)
I am thinking of taking AmTrack up there. Who can I burden to give me a ride to and from the train station?

I am first trying to get out of a commitment that weekend. I'll have to check the AmTrack schedule and figure out a hotel that is convenient for the station, the Friday night rally, and Woodward Park.
I think you need a hotel near the rally. The train station is downtown; we have the rally and the picnic north of downtown.
Whoever picks you up Friday can get you to the hotel and the rally, then back to your hotel. Then someone can pick you up Saturday. There are enough of us in this area that this will not be a problem.
