A creature that was found dead after apparently being hit by a car in Turner, Maine, is shown Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006. For the past 15 years, residents across Androscoggin County have reported seeing and hearing a mysterious animal with chilling monstrous cries and eyes that glow in the night. Now, residents are wondering if the animal found dead over the weekend may be the mysterious creature that has mauled dogs, frightened residents and been the subject of local legend for half a generation. It siad it was between 40 and 50 pounds. A Rottweiler would eat it alive, as would my 20 lb tom cat.

So this dead monster in Maine is being reported out of San Francisco?
hhhhmmmm. Can we have a little more local source? Maybe some video that at present is at least a little harder to fake than a photo? :~)

It's a dog. But it's face looks eerily human.

It's a dog and a lot of dumb people.

A Tasmanian Devil would explain the "chilling monstrous cries", but a photo comparison now makes me think it's some sort of dog. The dead "monster" looks more canine, and the Tasmanian Devil looks more ratlike. My first reaction to seeing the dead "monster" was "Tasmanian Devil", but after looking at a real one, I think the "monster" in question is some sort of dog.

I would agree with part Chow. Blue lips and tongue, and dense coat. Wonder if it is part wolf with those ears, which look like they stand up. Poor thing. It looks like my dog when she was a puppy.
