That is why the police suspected the parents/family. It almost has to be someone who knows them.

Else, how do you pick up some random person in Thailand? It's either family, someone known to the family, or a very resourceful stalker. Someone known to the police for other reasons.

For the most part I didn't want to believe they had done it (heck, I didn't want to believe Scott Peterson killed Laci either), and I went back and forth on what I believed. However, it's not surprising most people probably think they did it (or the son did it) considering the way the media portrayed it.

I always thought that was odd. Why $118,000? Why not $100,000, or $150,000?

I recall having read that that was the exact amount of some kind of bonus that the father had either recently from his employer or had recently been promised by his employer.

If this is,in fact,true that would rule out a stranger IMO.

I would also mention that some gratitude needs to be expressed to the Thailand government. Some taking refuge here in Mexico know that they won't be extradited if they might face a death sentence back in the USA.

Thailand is one of the biggest "sexual tourism" destinations, including the Philippines and some Latin American port cities. This would make sense if the perp was a chronic obsessed pedophile, as some have speculated that the photographer was that the Ramsey's had befriended, and had taken all of Johnbennet's "glamor" shots. But that ransom note still remains as a weird element... since it still looks like Patsy Ramsey may have written it. Was it to cover for their photographer friend,... after the homicide? And... why am I wasting my time thinking about all this tabloid nonsense? It is a mystery...
