Rep. Cynthia McKinney: Blacks Must Oppose Electronic Voting
WSBTV news Atlanta ^ | August 16, 2006 | WSBTV news Atlanta

Rep. Cynthia McKinney, in her first public appearance since losing her re-election bid last week, said Tuesday that the black community needs to oppose electronic voting machines, which she warned can be used to steal elections.

McKinney also said the state of Georgia should prohibit crossover voting among political parties in primary elections and end its system of runoff elections.

You won't know who won as long as we have those electronic voting machines, with the problems that have been manifested by them,'' she said, criticizing Georgia officials for not requiring that paper records be kept of all votes.

She also blamed her loss in part on Republican crossover voting. She said open primaries where voters can choose to vote in either party's primary election, regardless of how they are registered should not be allowed.

McKinney also charged that Georgia's system of runoff elections, where winners must always receive more than 50 percent of the vote, violates the Voting Rights Act.

McKinney as usual offers no proof or evidence to back up her comments. After all, it's all about her and facts and figures are to be ignored. It will be entertaining to watch her try and find meaningful work in the private sector where one has to possess some sort of marketable skill.

She'd prefer stuffing the ballot box with paper ballots. Can't do that with electronic voting machines.

This woman lost by 17% if I remember the tally correctly. Couldn't possibly be because of her behavior in office or because the voters found a better candidate, could it? Nah, I didn't think so.

She claims that a few voters reported voting for McKinney, but the computer indicated they had voted for the opponent. I have never seen a voting maching indicate anything of the sort. I suspect someone is lying in Georgia.

...McKinney also charged ...winners must always receive more than 50 percent of the vote, violates the Voting Rights Act.

If it did, it would have been thrown out long before now. Especially since the Civil Rights era in the 50's and 60's..............

She'll wind up in the 'front-office' of the New Black Panther party or some other similar outfit that doesn't require any skills or common sense making $100,000+ a year.

She should threaten to punch a few people in the nose if they vote against her. That might work.

I could go for paper ballots only - in English only - coupled with the purple finger.

We all have our worries about how fraud is committed.

The only thing wider than her margin of defeat is the gap between her two front teeth.

It will be entertaining to watch her try and find meaningful work in the private sector where one has to possess some sort of marketable skill.

Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson have made careers out of doing the same shtick. Wherever there is race to be baited, she will find a soft place to land.
