GOP FOE OF JOE IS DEALT W. BLOW
New York Post ^ | 9/15/2006 | MAGGIE HABERMAN

August 15, 2006 -- President Bush made history yesterday - by refusing to endorse a Republican. White House spokesman Tony Snow refused to say whether the president will back little-known GOP candidate Alan Schlesinger in the Joe Lieberman-Ned Lamont Senate race in Connecticut.

"The president supports the democratic process in the state of Connecticut and wishes them a successful election in November," Snow said when asked whether Bush is supporting Schlesinger.

Bush as a matter of course backs the GOP contender in races, but his aides have voiced support for Lieberman since he was defeated in last week's Democratic primary by anti-war upstart Ned Lamont - largely because of anger over the senator's support of the Iraq war and his perceived coziness with Bush.

I watched Dubya on Larry King a few weeks ago, and there was no question in my mind he backed Lieberman.
When Larry King asked him if he supported Lieberman, he something to the effect, : If I said I backed him that will be the kiss of death for him in the primaries.
In this case, the only practical option is to back Lieberman.

Bush only lends his support to Candiates like Chris Cannon who supports open borders.

It is being bandied about that Joe Lieberman has a real chance against Lamont in the election as an Independent or a Republican.

Yes and Alan Schlesinger has No chance of winning as he is at about 6% in the polls.

They discussed something similar on the Beltway Boys. Rove called Lieberman after the primary vote. Fred Barnes speculated strongly that Rove said, "We can't back you. But we won't get involved in helping your opponent, either."

So far as President Bush helps to hammer the moonbat Lamont, I am happy with it. :)

In this case the president is backing the democrat because he's getting his allies where he can find them. While I vehemently disagree with the president and Lieberman on the borders, we need his backing on the WOT. The republican has virtually no chance of winning and Lamont will only be a thorn in our side.

This republican is going to get ten percent of the vote at best; cooler heads need to talk the guy into finding something better to do with his time and energy.

Exactly.
Anything the sends the Kos/DU/moveon/Soros people to hospital in November, suffering depression has got to be a good thing. :)

Now that's a headline!

Lieb will beat Lamont of course since Lamont is a nutcase.

But the media will say instead that it was... "Bush's fault!".

This is posted on FR a couple of times now but this should be repeated every time it is posted.

The Republican in this race has some serious ethical issues and SHOULD not be endorsed by the president.

Bush wants Joe (D) but would he really mind if a republican won in the Senate.

What are the ethics issues with the republican. I don't know anything about him.

I know.

However, it doesn't change the validity of my original post.

The President's decision was a political calculation.

I understand that. He's doing what he thinks is best for the Party.
