Ohio Candidate Charged With Domestic Violence

An Ohio congressional candidate (Stephanie Studebaker) has suspended her campaign after she and her husband were charged with domestic violence.

A statement on Stephanie Studebaker's website said she's suspended all her campaign activitites because of "personal issues."

Studebaker and her husband, Sam, were booked Sunday morning into the Montgomery County Jail in Dayton after police answered calls about a fight in their home.

A STATEMENT AT HER WEBSITE http://www.studebakerforcongress.com/

Welcome, For Immediate Release: August 15, 2006

At 4PM, Stephanie Studebaker released the following statement:

"After deciding to focus my efforts entirely on my family, I am withdrawing my name from the ballot as a candidate for Ohio's Third Congressional District, effective immediately. Ohio families are ready for a change, and this is a seat Democrats can and will win in November."

why do the Dems get to replace this woman on the Ballot when Tom Delay has to be kept?

I'm guessing different state election laws.

Nothing that I've heard either.

He was the mayor of Dayton for goodness sakes....That's quite a thing considering the political bent of the city.

I think both of them should submit to a drug test. I detect methamphetamine.

Some would-be leaders we have in this country, huh?

She does look hurt. On the human side of this, I feel real bad for this family

There has to be something up if she is the one charged with domestic violence.

Maybe her husband caught her with another man, wait a minute she's a democrat, probably another woman.

But you are correct it's a tragedy for the family especially if they have children who have to live through this mess.

Her web site refers to her as "doctor." Someone on a thread yesterday mentioned the meth thing. It just got me wondering.

Just a bit more of media bias, in the two pictures you posted it seems to imply that her husband was the one charged and was running for the congressional seat.

If one hit first and the other hit back, is that not self defense?

That's for a judge or jury to sort out. There had to be a good reason to charge both of them.

So of course you just HAD TO post it like it was fact....

She's not a meth head, she's a wife who looks as if she was on the receiving end of a punch.

But then again, it appears that she gave as good as she took.

I just read a report that says both were booked. Both claimed abuse.

I read a lefty blog from a campaign helper who'd interviewed her, and was preparing a piece for her campaign, and amid the profanities was pretty down. "Stick a fork in it." was one of his printable lines.

If you are only looking at the pictures, MAYBE you can draw that conclusion, but I don't see it. And if you actually read or listened to the news, you'll know that the story is about her.

You know what; I had that same impression exactly on seeing the photos. I had to google a search just to be sure of the article before I posted it for just that reason.

Must be getting their training from Reuters.

Stephanie Studebaker Image of Stephanie Studebaker Dear Friend, My name is Dr. Stephanie Studebaker. I am a mother, veterinarian, and the Democratic candidate in Ohio’s Third Congressional District. We all know that the corrupt Republican Congress is full of insider politicos, the worst of the worst that Washington has to offer. I am proud to say that I am different; I am not now – and never will be – a career politician. Instead, I am taking a few years to serve our country as a citizen-legislator, just as the founders intended. Politicians got government into this mess; it is up to ordinary folks like me to get us out. Recently, I was privileged to accept Senator John Edwards’ endorsement of my campaign. I am thrilled to have his support in this critical year. In 2004, Senator Edwards stirred the country with his honest portrayal of Two Americas, an optimistic call for a nation undivided by race or class. His words inspired me – as I know they did with many of you – and now I need your help to turn that inspiration into concrete policy in the 110th Congress. I’m sure that I do not need to emphasize the importance of the upcoming midterm elections. The litany of Republican abuses is far too long and it grows daily: Dick Cheney’s energy cabal, Tom Delay’s Texas redistricting, Jack Abramoff’s pay-to-play scandals, and President Bush’s deceptions on Iraq, to name just a few. Furthermore, the Third District is especially important because the road to the White House in ’08 runs through Ohio. We must build a strong Democratic base in competitive districts like mine to turn the Buckeye State blue again; I am a proud member of that movement, but I need your help. The month of July is critical for the Democratic Party and its candidates; we need to show that our strength in the bank matches our strength in opinion polls. I need your help so we can take this country back from the career politicians and give the American people the smart, honest government they deserve. Your donation is an investment – in me, our party and America. Please consider contributing to my campaign today; every dollar counts in our fight for the future. If you are as committed to taking back the House as I am, then I hope you can contribute to my campaign. The maximum amount is $2,100 per person.

Above is her fundraising letter from a website called "Act Blue". Link

Looks like she is a true "blue" DUmmie fan.

Wow! What a letter....might not have been meth, but as O'Reilly says, she's definitely been drinking the kool-aid....

The george soros/michael moore school of politics and persuasion lives.

What are they feeding the veterinarians these days.
