I was watching O'Reilly last night and he had some guy from CAIR, whining about the use of IslamoFacist used by President Bush, BOR, and others. During the give and take, as BOR is bringing up various countries under Islam law, the guy basically states that being a Muslim is not the same as being Islam. On one point, he says about someone or something, they are Muslim not Islam. To me, they are just playing with words and trying to confuse people. Anyone else see this?

IIRC, according to their thinking: Islam means submit. Muslim is a person that submits to Allah's will according to the Koran. So a muslim is the person while the muslim or state that adheres to sharia is submitting to the theocracy of Islamic laws known generally as the catch-all phrase Islam.

They don't like being called islamicists because they think that is simply inaccurate.
Most of all, they don't like being called mohammedans because they view that as a form of idolatry. They are not submitting to the will of Mohammed even though he is the center of their deviation from Judaism and paganism.

If you ask me, the quasi-terrorist group CAIR are meshungina.

Seems to me the issue is it a "relgion of peace" I still see no so called moderate muslims coming forward and condeming the violence. So I will have to assume it is NOT a religion of peace.

Sure he was. Look at it from a logical point of view. Fascists that practice Christianity(No such thing by the way), would be called Christian-Fascists, Fascists that practice Islam are Islamic-Fascists(plenty of those around). Get the picture?

The main point the CAIR guy was trying to make was that any facist from a Christian nation is not labeled a Christian Facist. To me, most Facists have disavowed Christianity and so are not acting in the name of God. BOR was attempting to make the point these people are acting in the name of Islam or Allah, thus Islamic Facists.

Anyway, good try with the explanation but I am not buying it. Christianity is the name of the religion. Christian is the name of one who practices the religion. So, if Islam is the name of the religion and Muslim is one who pratices Islam, than we should just call them Muslim Facists. The key term here is Facist.

The same reason that, AFAIK, no Muslims wept as they watched desperate people jump to their deaths while the WTC burned.

Myself, being LDS, I am very sensitive to religious persecution and stereotyping. But it's very difficult to swallow the "religion of peace" mantra. If it's true at all, even for some Muslims, they really need to be a bit more visible with it, IMHO. When such widespread atrocities have been committed in the name of Islam, there must be a strong, visible, concerted effort by the supposedly peace-loving remainder to show that it's a "religion of peace".
