Netanyahu: There will be another round in this war
Jerusalem Post ^ | 8/14/6 | JPost.com staff

Opposition leader MK Binyamin Netanyahu (Likud) told the Knesset that "unfortunately, there will be another round [in this war] because the government's just demands weren't met" by the cease-fire agreement that went into effect Monday morning.

"The [kidnapped] soldiers weren't returned home, the Hizbullah was not disarmed … Right now, we are [merely] in an interim period between wars," Netanyahu warned. "And there is no one who will prevent our enemies from rearmed and preparing for the next round."

Strike the thanks for the measured comments. I didn't see your ad hominem attack at the end of you post. What, if you don't mind, gives you the indication, then the desire to state I am "ignorant and stupid"?

Classy touch!

Never mind. It really doesn't matter.

Oh, but it does!
You might have missed the fact that when I said "other members" I necessarily included myself.

This cease fire earily reminds me of 2001 in Afghanistan when the Northern armies called for a "ceasefire" and that's when Bin Laden escaped! I'm all for full speed ahead and fire the bombs at the sources: Syria and Iran - they're the ones sending in the firearms and weaponry in the first place! YOu have to cut off the snake's head and there's a 2 headed monster in THIS fight!

My wife and I and a couple of our kids watched "Munich" this week. It's a movie and an event that really have me talking about all the stuff Israel has had to endure. We need to keep praying for Israel to be strong.

"Why on earth anyone on the Israeli side considered this a good deal is beyond me. I have to assume that due to a lack of forcefulness on Olmert's part the Israeli's figured most of the easy gains had already been won. Hopefully in round two Israel will have someone at the helm who will act much more decisively on the ground once the IAF has done the initial work."

I don't know...perhaps the general staff figures that the political leadership in israel might change in a few weeks or months when the defeat is understood by the public. Then they might have a chance to win round two.

Yes, I read that IDF had a plan developed over the last 2-3 years on how to tackle Hezbollah.
The first step was to start bombing the Hezbollah neighborhoods in Beirut before its leadership could find underground refuge. Hit Southern Lebanon at about the same time to remove has much of the command and control located there, communications and possible traffic lanes (i.e. Roads and bridges, airports etc.)
While this was happening, fly over the Hezies bunkers and drop massive amount of troops behind the Lebanese Southern tier along the Litani River to take control of a strip of land while a lane on the ground was made to bring in the heavy equipment.
Attack the dug in Hezies facing the Israeli border, prepared for a 1982 type of heavy invasion, from the rear when all re supply routes were cut off. This would have forced them out of their holes to fight in the open or to stay imbedded and starve and when they came out to fire their rockets they would have been picked off.
Instead the Israeli government decided to conduct an air campaign. They did take out a lot of long range launcher, failed away with little results in limited incursions and waited to the very last moment to send in the massive number of troops in a land invasion!

Olmert and Cabinet have a lot of answers to provide their citizens!

"Of course if Netanyahu had become prime minister this spring the war would probably have been over a few weeks ago."

Amen!!

I just can't figure out why they won't re-elect Bibi!!!!!

I just can't figure out why they won't re-elect Bibi!!!!

For the same reason that we have to worry about a 'Rat being elected POTUS in 2008. I suppose their are obtuse leftists everywhere who are unable to see that there are some evil people in the world and just offering to sing "Kumbaya" with them won't change anything.

To be fair to our long gone troll, yes, Netanyahu does not have a spotless record in Israeli politics, nobody denies that.

But just as most wrote off Churchill and thought he was a nutcase, when push came to shove, in her darkest hour, it was he, who the Brits turned to.

Just as Israelis will look past Bibi's past transgressions when it comes down to her very survival. He may not be a man for all seasons, but this is his time.

Oh to be sure, I didn't agree much with what the fellow said. Mr. Netanyahu has long been one of my heroes. But as the fellow stated, he did make a large enough mistake to cost him the seat. And he is the current man for the job, regardless of that incident.

I just couldn't see why the chap was getting all the "troll" treatment. I see he is gone. I sure hope he wrote something on another thread worse than here, as I sure don't see it as grounds for banishment.

Perhaps he was a previously "banned person" sneaking in through the back door so to speak.

Thanks for the contact and God Bless.

"For instance, when a BBC interviewer accused Israel of harming Lebanese civilians, Netanyahu compared the situation to the British Royal Air Force's fight against the Nazis in World War II. He said that when the RAF targeted the Gestapo headquarters in Copenhagen in 1944, they missed and hit a children's hospital, but "that didn't make the British pilots terrorists and it didn't make the Nazis the good guys"

I think an even better reply would have been the analogy with NATO’s bombings of the Serb forces in Kosovo barely 7 years ago when the NATO authorities themselves admitted:

"Strikes were also complicated by the cynical Serb use of civilian homes and buildings to hide weapons and vehicles, the intermixing of military vehicles with civilian convoys and, sometimes, the use of human shields. In this way, NATO’s concern to avoid civilian casualties was exploited by the Serbs. "
