Hezbollah Distributes 'Victory' Leaflets
BreakingNews.ie ^ | 8/14/06

Hezbollah today distributed leaflets congratulating Lebanon on its “big victory” and thanking citizens for their patience during the 34-day war with Israel.

Supporters of the guerrilla group were seen passing out leaflets to cars heading south on the Zahrani highway, which connects the hard-hit southern cities of Nabatiyeh, Tyre and Sidon.

“Congratulations to you on the big victory, with the support of God, the mujahedeen (holy warriors) and your patience,” it read.

The flyers also warned people not to touch any suspicious objects, which could be unexploded ordnance.

Israeli warplanes had blanketed leaflets over large areas of Lebanon during the month-long war.

Well, they DID win. They kidnapped two Israel soldiers and killed a bunch of Israeli soldiers and citizens, blasted a bunch of tanks and created revulsion in some Israeli citizens (the lefties). At what cost? The Hezzies considers all losses as trivial and they still have plenty of rockets and psychopaths to fire them. Hence, they DID win.

Iran is playing this beautifully. Any reaction by Israel is viewed by Europe negatively. While we keep hearing that the Saudis and Egyptians want this to stop, why aren't they sending troops to southern Lebanon to disarm the Hezzies?

Congratulations to the UN Security Council, the international news media, and everyone involved with brokering this victory for Hizbullah.

So there is a change in policy in the world wide War on Terrorism --- the West now negotiates with the terrorists.

The new world, PC 2006 version.

If our favorite "compassionate conservative", who has run up a 300 billion tax-dollar tab "establishing democracy" in the Muslim hell-hole of Iraq, gives one thin dime to reconstruct the Hezbollah state in southern Lebanon, he should be run out of office. All those burka babes, who said in their interviews that the Hezbos promised they would rebuild all their homes, certainly wouldn't want money from the Great Satan, America. There is no such thing as buying "good will" with this enemy, and we should stop trying, especially in light of the news that Pakistani earthquake relief funds have gone into the pockets of the London terrorists. Maybe we are just too stupid to fight this war with Islam.

All I ever see around me is moral weakness. The enemy wins because we aren't willing to defeat him. The strongest military in the world is useless if you are not willing to employ it to its maximum capability.

Shouldn't their leaflets have read:

"Thank you for being human shields and cannon fodder in life, propaganda in death"

????

Any breath by Israel is viewed by Europe negatively. Hezbollah wins if Israel withdrawals leaving them defending Southern positions. That’s withdrawal’s weeks away at best, and there’s no predicting the outcome.

I don't know that they won, but I agree that they lost nothing that they were unwilling to lose.

Now we have a cease-fire before the two captured IDF members have been returned.

The second resolution is supposed to deal with the rest of the issues, but it appears that Israel has lost what little momentum they had, and I'm not overly hopeful about the second resolution, because I expect that Israel will be expected to give something to Lebanon in return for the hostages, and that is unacceptable.

The UN has also failed to condemn the criminal acts of Hezbollah, and call for it's leadership to face war crimes charges.

I think the UN has once again shown itself to be a detriment to the world rather than making the world better and safer.

I also think that Israel's response came up short. They limited their ground offensive way to early and failed to do what they needed to do in order to achieve their goals.

I'm not sure what to think about the role of the Bush administration. They showed a lot of solid support for Israel, and did a lot to buy Israel time to address the issue. However, it's hard to know what happened behind the scenes. It's hard to know if the US was part of the reason that Israel held back too much, or if that decision was Israel's alone.

In the past I would have believed that the US put significant pressure on Israel to back down, but the administration really did appear to be handling things differently this time.

Once the hostages return, the price paid in land or prisoners will be the going rate for all certain future hostage taking that has now been sanctioned as officially "normal" business negociations by our United Nations. Get ready for more chinese-interesting times.

Right now Israel is still operating freely in Lebanon, doing whatever they need to do to clear out the Hezzies. The only thing they aren't doing is bombing things which really hasn't done much since the UN and teh MSM told the Hezzies the Israelis were coming and they went to ground.

Meanwhile, the Hezzies cannot fire rockets into Israel. Because if they do it is considered offensive action and Israel is then free to continue its war, courtesy of the UN.

Enemies are deterred when they are ASSURED of receiving more damage than they are willing to endure. It should be apparent that the concept of proportional force and fighting to stalemate is a failure. It does nothing but allow your enemy to learn from his mistakes, correct his tactics, and become more dangerous. To win a war you must be willing (no eager) to kill the enemy and his allies on a massive scale. You must also be willing to TAKE as many casualties as is necessary to win unambiguously. If you are unwilling to kill the enemy you should not enter the war to begin with.

Condi hasn't been the toughest Sec. of State by any stretch:

Summer of Our Discontent [Michael Rubin]

Condoleezza Rice may still be a media star, but her track record places somewhere around Warren Christopher in the annals of recent State Department history:
Rice reversed course on Iran, and even offered this terror-sponsor nuclear reactors. Rather than moderate Tehran, her move signaled weakness and further emboldened the Islamic Republic. Ayatollah Khamene‘i responded to the offer by asking, four days later, “Why don’t you just admit you are weak and your razor is blunt?”

Remember Iran’s centrifuges? They’re still spinning.
North Korea defied international consensus to launch missiles, one of which was aimed at the waters off Hawaii. Japan sought robust UN action. The US sided with China against our ally, Japan.
She agreed to a ceasefire resolution that rewards terror, justifies hostage-taking, and resurrects the legitimacy of Hezbollah claims to the Shabaa Farms.
Remember the UN Brammertz Commission investigating Syrian complicity in the murder of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri? No reaffirmation of it in the UN Resolution or subsequent statements. Score one for Syria.
Her sense of timing leaves much to be desired.
For the sake of well, not much, we’ve wholesale abandoned liberal allies and democracy activists in Iran, Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Yemen, and elsewhere.
Hmm. What other realist prescriptions can we implement? Coddle Castro? Abandon Taiwan?

We’re seeing “Chicken Kiev” instincts on an exponential scale.

Indeed. It's a farce on the face of it, and it's amazing how many otherwise intelligent people subscribe to it. You don't win wars by using proportional force; you win them by using maximum force. You win them by killing as many of the enemy as you can as fast as you can.

Bolton said on Saturday there was to be a second resolution to address the prisoner issue. I'm not holding my breath.

I can only hope that Olmert is retired soon. The loss of 116 Israeli troops is the equivalent of over 5,000 American troops--more than twice those killed in the Iraq Expedition in the Global War on Terror.

Can you imagine the howls from the Lefty moonbats on losing 5,000 troops in just over a month?
