The last two of the 11 Egyptian exchange students who failed to show up at their college program were apprehended Sunday in Richmond, Va., customs officials said.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested Mohamed Saleh Ahmed Maray, 20, and Mohamed Ibrahim Fouaad El Shenawy, 17, at an apartment building in Richmond on Sunday night. Virginia State Police and the Richmond Police helped locate the students.

What set of circumstances do you believe delineates the WTO thread from the illegal immigration one?

Are you playing some kind of idiot game with me? How about the fact that world trade deals primarily with commerce, tarrifs, and trade, while the terrorists want to kill us all?

If you can't see the link between illegal immigration and 11 students who disappeared on "student" visas, while pairing off in various strategic locations around the country, then I'm not going to waste my breath explaining it to you because you're not capable of understanding it.

These guy's real mistake was disappearing before attending the class. That lead the Montana University to notify the authorities. If they had waited and vanished on the way out, would anyone have noticed?

Their ineptitude and geographical dispersement during international major anti-terrorist operations leads me to believe they were decoys.

In the meantime, how many people have snuck across the border from Mexico?

It is strange... In WWI, WWII,the Korean War, the Vietnam war, the cold war and The war on terror there has never been a documented case of an enemy of the US getting across the Mexican border.

Hitler tried to land them from Submarines off our each coast. Stalin got a lot in .. but not through Mexico.

It took a wile to figure it out. You have to get permission (THAT IS PAY) the Mexican banditos to cross the border. It has been that way for ever. And the Banditos know that if an enemy of the US of A got across the border their gravey train would be ended. The enemies of the USA always need one of two things... weapons or money. If they have either or are of certain races they never make it across the border.

The funny think is we have had several cases of Terrorists making it across the Canadian border... but no one objects to terrorists that enter from Canada. They just object to the ones that don't come across the Mexican border.

"You have to admire the restraint, though. It took 9 whole posts before illegal immigration came up."

Wrong. The original post was about the arrest of two Egyptians by IMMIGRATION authorities for breaking our IMMIGRATION laws.
Get it? IMMIGRATION. ILLEGAL.
Sheeesh!

I expect the ACLU to sue because we interfered with their right to kill us.

Maybe they weren't up to anything. Things sure have heated up since they disappeared though. Messengers?

Um, actually it IS an "Immigration" thread!

They entered the U.S. "legally" to attend a short term college class, then forfeited that legal entry when they went AWOL on arrival.

It seems the most charitable explanation of their actions is that they intended to seize the opportunity to remain in the U.S. permanently, taking illegal employment, and waiting for the next "not an amnesty".

This is not really any different than the "Mexicans*" who commonly enter "legally" with a border pass, but then stay forever, unless deported.

The only real difference here is that the authorities actually responded to this small group, while still unable to find or deal with so many thousands of others.

*"Mexicans" in this case being a generic term for illegal alien invaders from south of the border, but it could also apply to illegal entrants from any of about 200 countries who have invaded the U.S. over the last few decades.

Hopefully, no other middle eastern types can just blend into American society in the future.

Pipe dream. Profiling not allowed. Terrorists will continue to roam freely in the U.S.

Your post makes a good point, but I think this sentence is the opposite of what you wanted to say.

It is strange... In WWI, WWII,the Korean War, the Vietnam war, the cold war and The war on terror there has never been a documented case of an enemy of the US getting across the Mexican border.

Before 9/11, nobody had ever crashed airplanes into the WTC either. Where there's a will, there's a way.

You have to get permission (THAT IS PAY) the Mexican banditos to cross the border.

Not true. I had friends who hired migrants to pick apples every summer. I heard their stories first-hand. Thousands of illegals sneak across the border without the aide of banditos/smugglers.

This isn't an illegal immigration thread so don't try to hijack it into one.

What do you think they are going to be deported for - jaywalking?

They just bombed Pearl Harbor. That was done with airplanes too.

Drat, you beat me. I had been wanting so badly to use BFE in *something* about this story, but I just waited too long for my intro, I guess.

Well, the *good news* is they didn't seem to have any enormous amount of cell phones on them when nabbed.

That we know of.
