Um, bitt, you're avoiding the question:
I know you've got a man crush on him, but if he appoints gay Democrats to the bench in Massachusetts, why shouldn't anyone trust his horrendous judgment and two-facedness as president?
just so we can avoid blaming poor Mitt for things that aren't really his fault (not that anyone else will)....his judicial appointments have to make it by the Governor's Council, which is (and has been, for years) made up of eight Democrats, plus the Lt. Governor. That's 8-1. Imagine trying to get conservative judges through a Senate where the Dems had a 87-13 advantage.
I suppose we could blame him for not getting any Republicans elected to the council, but that's a different issue.
The popular saying is "you can't beat something with nothing" and YOU HAVE NOTHING. Who is your candidate ? You don't have one. Pence went rino on immigration, tancredo is unelectable, YOU DON'T HAVE A CANDIDATE.
You need to take a look at what Romney knew about these judges at the time he appointed them, because gay marraige didn't become a big, front-page issue until last year. This could be more a case of Romney and his staff not anticipating where the liberal judiciary was going in Mass, rather than appointing known supporters of gay marraige. Mass is a very difficult state for a Republican governor and I'm sure that at this time Romney is constantly working to anticipate the crazy, far-left legislative proposals that are getting thrown at him by the Dems. But he's got some work to do to explain what he knew about these judges when he appointed them.
If no one else answered the question . . . here's mine.

This is the board that are all elected (not appointed) through which judicial nominees must pass.
Romney HAD to go through these 8 elected officials (all Democrats I've heard) to get any nominee through. People criticize him for only appointing 25% Republicans but that's not bad given that only 14% of the state are reg GOPers and that everyone had to get through this Democratic board of 8.
I can even see this panel threatening to block all of his conservative appointees he didn't appoint some gays. Gays can make fine judges . . . but if they're activist judges, then that's the real problem. I'd take a gay constructionist over a straight activist any day as a judge. And Romney's only appointed 2 gays to the court . . . much less than is representative of the population I would guess.
