You know, it came at a rough time in her life (she and my dad were getting divorced and her father was dying), but she is a real trooper and an inspiration. She actually decided to change careers at age 60 because she was bored with the one she had and figured life is too short to just waste it. Now, how many people go to that much effort instead of just slogging it out? Something she learned from facing death I suppose...but I got to learn the same thing tangentially.

I am very fortunate that I have three sets of great parents as role models. My dad and stepmom, Mom and stepdad and inlaws are all terrific people and I am blessed to have them in my life. All, roughly the same age (64-67) and not a one looks like Sheehan. And yes, she does look like hell most of the time.

Comes from living in a ditch I suppose.

You're mother's a real trooper, a gutsy lady, and yes, a great role model. There are lots of ways to teach; your mother did so by precept and example.

OTOH, the ditch witch defiles her own son, who gave his all, for the love of his country. No wonder she is so ugly on the outside.
