That was my favorite after school show when I was a kid.

I'd forgotten completely about it. Thanks for bringing back some good memories Wolfie.

UPDATE 2-Power outages hit large areas of Tokyo
Sun Aug 13, 2006 4:23pm ET

TOKYO, Aug 14 (Reuters) - Power outages in large areas of Tokyo, apparently the result of an industrial accident, darkened homes and offices, trapped people in elevators and disrupted transportation and computer systems early on Monday.

The outages started around 7:40 a.m. (2240 GMT on Sunday) as offices were opening and commuters were heading for work.

Kyodo news agency, quoting police, said the blackouts were probably caused by a construction crane touching a power line.

Traffic lights turned off in at least 260 places, Kyodo said, while several businesses reported problems with computer systems.

A spokesman for Tokyo Electric Power, which serves an area with a population of more tha 30 million, said about 800,000 homes had been affected.

Service on several train lines was suspended.

The Tokyo Stock Exchange was trading as usual but foreign exchange traders at several banks said they were unable to conduct business because of computer problems.

In my case that would be "Ok, who plugged their computer (on Tokio's grid)?"

NHK English:
Tokyo Electric Power Company says power has been restored to most of the affected areas in central Tokyo except Shinjuku ward. More than 670,000 company and residential buildings in Tokyo were without power since 8:15 am Japan Time.

With a purposeful grimace and a terrible sound
He pulls the spitting high tension wires down

Helpless people on a subway train
Scream bug-eyed as he looks in on them

He picks up a bus and he throws it back down
As he wades through the buildings toward the center of town

Oh no, they say he's got to go go go Godzilla
Oh no, there goes Tokyo go go Godzilla

History shows again and again
How nature points up the folly of men

1 hour, 15 minutes ago TOKYO - A power outage hit wide swaths of Tokyo and nearby Chiba early Monday, halting train service in some areas, news reports said.

It was not immediately clear what caused the power to be cut off, however a Reuters photographer was able to capture this picture:
