>>When she begins to load her 12-gauge shotgun, she is sometimes taunted by men who don't expect to see a woman with a firearm.<<
People who taunt a woman while she is loading a 12 guage may not be entirely bright. Agreed, and even though I'm a guy, the people I meet at the range are always extremely polite and courteous. I haven't encountered any 'taunting' or similar rude behavior such as what's being described.

I've never been to a firing range, and I find this "taunting" charge extremely hard to believe.

I've been in lots of firing ranges and I promise that a much more common reaction to a woman with a 12 gauge is to check for a wedding ring and then to try to find out if she has a boy friend.

Same here. Everyone I've seen at a range ENCOURAGES women to join the shooting. Shooting is one of those sports where women can compete against men without any disadvantage.
There are a lot of women who can outshoot me without effort!
