Neighbors Smell Blood in Israeli Cease-Fire Acceptance 16:53 Aug 13, '06 / 19 Av 5766 by Ezra HaLevi
Arabs and Muslims from Iran, Hizbullah and the PA are celebrating Israels acceptance of the UN ceasefire, dubbing it a "surrender" and calling on Arab states to attack the new "weak" Israel.

Any signs of being reasonable and kindness is interpreted as weakness to these war mongers That much is clear. They start their mouths running even before the ceasefire begins. But, the final battle is not yet. It would be wise leadership to wait so the call to war is given once and with full support of 80% rather than going often at each minor aggravation and vexation with tepid support of 20%.

17:44 Beirut official: Cabinet meeting on deploying Lebanese troops indefinitely postponed (AP)That should have its own thread in breaking news!!

Their propaganda of winning is the only winning they did. Hezbollah accepted the U.N. resolution as well. The fighting hasn't stop. If Lebanon and the U.N. forces don't disarm Hezbollah, I really don't see where there will be a win at all because Israel will not move back until that happens.

I really hope we don't find out later, as some DC friends have suggested to me, that Israel was put under major pressure from Rice and the White House to accept the cease fire, given that anti-Hizbollah forces had "lost the P.R. battle". Not that this excuses Olmert for betraying his nation, but we should really know better. Qana was a fraud. The "UN post" Israel bombed was a Hizbollah base. Hizbollah is not a state but a terrorist organization, yet were addressed as a sovereign entity in the resolution. SO many horrible precedents were permitted by the U.S. and Israel in this conflict, that will surely come back to haunt us all in the very near future.

Israel has always found a great leader in times of strife. A lion. A Sharon, Dayan, or Meir. At this point I can only pray that God sends another. And soon. Of course the Arabs are famous for throwing down a load of "we won" PR BS, as they are ultimate bargain basement hagglers.

Churchill famously said of the 1938 Munich accord that forced Czechoslovakia to cede Sudetenland to Germany something like: "We had to chose between peace and honor. We chose dishonor, we shall have war."
To: silentknight
I am sure that once Hezbullah gets the Sudetenland, they will have no more territorial ambitions.

Yes here we go again. Any signs of being reasonable and kindness is interpreted as weakness to these war mongers. The cease fire will last until the terrorist rearm. As a fill in for Limbaugh said (I think it was Roger Hedgecock) Muslim for cease fire is reload. Yep...they view these matters like the truce of Hudaybiyya. We just don't get it. Our leaders don't get it...our diplomats don't get it...
BUT...the Hezbollahs don't want to lay down their arms and have cancelled the meeting for the Lebanese Cabinet meeting. Maybe Iran has given them assurances that now is the time to take them on. Hmmmmm.
To: silentknight
As posted elsewhere Terms such as ceasefire and Lebanon are semantic word games with the muslim extremists.

I agree, it looks like an Israeli surrender. In the past wars, the Jewish state has not stopped until they got the job done. Olmert appears to be a weak appeaser. How this plays out over the next few weeks is going to be very crucial for Israel. Right now things do not look good. I have not heard much from Bibi. I would guess he is not for this cease fire. I expect we will be vocal on this matter.

Olmert is in the Center party, with Labour to the left and Likud to the right. H'aaretz is for Labour.
