Targeted by Gun Nuts
Los Angeles Times ^ | August 13, 2006 | Jenny Price

'A SPINELESS retard with the character of pond scum." A "whacko," "greedy un-American idiot," "fascist," "whining liberal" and "nasty little gun grabber."

Those are just some of the names I've been called since I published an Op-Ed article in the Washington Post to commemorate the fifth anniversary of my brother's death. After briefly stating that David and his fiancee were shot and killed by the fiancee's mother, who was angry that she had to move out of their L.A. apartment, I went on to argue for a national ban on handguns. The gun control lobby, led by the Brady Campaign, has worked passionately to make guns safer and to regulate their sales. But such measures, I contended, will never significantly reduce the annual U.S. death toll by firearms — 12,000 — because most murderers use legally purchased handguns and know how to operate them safely.

A couple of days later, while procrastinating on a writing assignment, I Googled my article. And so began my strange, weeklong trip through chat rooms on such pro-gun websites as keepandbeararms.com freerepublic.com, packing.org and rightnation.us.

I was just wondering if the future mother-in-law bears any responsibility for the death of Jenny's brother??

Oh, don't be stupid, please. The MIL didn't do anything wrong. She had no choice but to follow the gun's directions, and to help satisfy its bloodlust! The MIL is not at fault at all.

Lady, you need to get some better statistics. The gun control lobby, led by the Brady Campaign, has worked passionately to make guns safer and to regulate their sales.

Despite what these groups claim, most of the people who support "reasonable" gun laws think that DC's gun laws are unreasonable.

Not surprising, since the mass media machine is infested with bourgeois children playing at socialist propaganda. Their religion requires them to be 'holier than thou'. So, each word written by these mental and moral midgets is, in their world, gospel to be taken as fact and silently nodded to by an adoring audience.

Just watch them when they're opposed or shown to be wrong. Their cries of 'Heresy!!!' are attempts to silence those with a free mind.

And some, like their role model Josef, want the guns "taken away" so that those with a free mind can be taken out back and shot for disagreeing with the words written by these mental and moral midgets.

After all, it's OK for the government to have guns, just not us...

If the crazy Mother in law had stabbed her brother Jenny would be wanting to ban kives , like they are trying to do in England. People like jenny are prone to go off on these tangents and if they are liberal they have an automatiuc reaction to ban guns and take away Constitutional rights, maybe she should instaed fight for mental health institutions that keep crazy people behind bars instaed of out on the street.

Anther vindictive person, who wants to punish every gun owner for the actions of a single individual

My grandfather drank himself to death. We must move to ban Jim Beam.

A friend of mine was killed in an industrial accident. We must move to ban CNC machine tools.

The logic of these people...the same people who report that "an SUV lost control and caused an accident on the freeway today" - never mind that it was really caused by someone trying to watch a DVD while driving their "Pimp My Ride" tricked out SUV.

Gets her "victim cred" right out there up front, so disagree with her at your own risk.

The BIAS of this person stopped me from taking him seriously when he decided to lie about gun deaths using the 12,000. Its always the same with these people. I have lost family too and its not that I don't care but their one-crime-takes-your-rights-away answer is never the right one.

I read the LA Times article. I then went to the original postings that she quoted in her article. This is my conclusion:
Jenny is upset because someone had the audacity to research her facts and prove some of them incorrect.
She cannot believe that someone other than her editor would question the veracity of her article and take the time to research her facts.
There were plenty of postings that were full of facts that refuted her data and statements with references and she chose to pick and choose and ignore for her subsequent article, Targeted by Gun Nuts. There were a couple of statements that expressed condolences for her loss in a kind manner to which she ignored for her victimization piece.
My take is that Jenny is a typical liberal that is using the death of her brother for sympathy to further her personal agenda of ignorance in her belief of gun control.

I lost my wife to suicide and she used one of my antique guns. I don't blame the guns any more than I would have blamed razor blades or Tylenol had she chose those routes. The difference is that I believe in personal responsibility and Jenny wishes to blame someone other than her brother's mother in law.

...if they are liberal they have an automatiuc reaction to ban guns and take away Constitutional rights...

Actually, the little feminist a**clown doesn't even understand that the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is a Natural Right, and one that is not subject to man's laws.

The definition of a Natural Right is that it is God-given, and cannot be "taken away" by "laws" made by men. Which is why she will NEVER be able to "tell you why the right to carry a 9-millimeter semiautomatic handgun with a 10-shot clip is not guaranteed by the 2nd Amendment".

Of course, she may be able to convince the semi-literate populace of the US to seize all the 9-millimeter semiautomatic handguns, so that the "socialist paradise can be made real". ;-)

She can have any of # post 110 that she wishes and can find me personally very easily. She personifies what I believe a liberal writer for the LA or NY Times has for a mindset.

LOL! I know that she's trolling for more quotes. She's prolly reading this thread as we post.

I'm giving her some good ones, but she'll leave out the fact that I know she's trolling - like any good Leftist, she's a selective quoter.

For the record, Jenny - I first came to this site back in 1997 when I noticed that the mainstream media were omitting from their "news" articles commonly known facts when it came to the crimes of their hero, Billy the Astro Turf King.

Before that, I was a neutral observer of the political scene.

When I became aware that one of the political parties was furthering its power through lying by omission, I became a Constituional conservative.

"I can cite statistics, and I can tell you why the right to carry a 9-millimeter semiautomatic handgun with a 10-shot clip is not guaranteed by the 2nd Amendment."

Oh Jenny dear (I know you love that term), for one it's a magazine, NOT a "clip". Secondly its not ten "shot", its ten "round". Thirdly, please do point out where, why and how the 2nd Amendment does not guarantee the right to carry or own any firearm. And please doesn't use the phony 'state militia' canard. The Bill of Rights are rights of individuals NOT of states - and that's all ten of them, not just nine.

As to your statistics honey, kindly cite them. However please do NOT use the phony ginned up stats of Handgun Control Inc or any other gun grabbing fascist organization. And when you DO cite said stats, PLEASE exclude all the gang-bangers and other miscreant criminal dregs usually classified under 'Children' - OR categorize them separately to present an honest picture of said stats. Then again sweety, if you do that the stats will show that more "Children" die by accidental drowning than by firearms and 'we' can't have that now can we as it kind of ruins the 'guns kill children' thing.

Lastly sugar - as to your particular case. If your brother's MIL didn't have a gun, she would have used whatever else was handy, like a Butcher's Knife, or a Clothes Iron or Hammer as a bludgeon, or her Car to kill him and her own daughter - as she she was apparently NUTS. Or as you loony tune liberals would say, 'psychologically challenged'.

Which begs the question. Why was she even on the streets roaming free? BECAUSE sweetums, IDIOTS like you bleeding heart morons closed all the mental institutions down in the 1970's because these nut cases had 'rights'!!

Furthermore darlin', lets say this nut killed your brother with a Stanley brand Hammer - would you be suing the Stanley Company? Or demanding 'Sensible Hammer Control Laws'?

In conclusion, I have two words for you and you ilk --- Molon Labe!!!

(Google that Sugar Buns)

as keepandbeararms.com freerepublic.com, packing.org and rightnation.us.

Sounds to me like the stupid, angst ridden Sarah Brady wannabe went looking for trouble and found it!

Kind of like being confronted by Code Pink outside Walter Reed Army Medical Center and being asked how many FReepers assembled are, or have ever been in the Military? With the results being an instant and resoundingly embarrassingly self-inflicted Black Eye.

I used to post regularly at RightNation before moving here. Their Alcolytes of the NRA and the Second Amendment (Myself included) are just as fervent as those here. Though they do, on occasion have excellent Gun Pr0n.

I'm surprised Kim DuToit and the Rottie weren't also Lurked and Trolled.

Jack.

Big surprise that Edu at the end of her email address. They truly are more intelligent and informed aren't they? It is so depressing to read such tripe from a supposedly educated person, somewhere along the way all critical thinking skills are wiped from their brains.

As I noted in an earlier reply, I too lost someone I love to sucicide. More than 30 years ago my father commited sucicide. I have never blamed the gun, that's insane.

My now 85 year old mother never has either. Only liberals blame intruments. It's there way of avoiding responsibility and goes right along with the "dream world" liberal philosophy. "I didn't do it, the evil gun did" what idiocy.

"See my post #80 - it's weasel-worded. The guns may well have been bought legally, but the perps could not legally possess them, since most were felons with criminal records."

She uses a classic liberal distortion. The guns were bought legally by law abiding citizens, then stolen by scumbags and used in crimes.

Sugar bun's just the cutest lil thing when she gets angry, isn't she? Of course, that's when the emoting starts...

I hate it when I get one of those ten-shot handguns - it's hard to hold while all ten shots are going off in your hand...
