Tuscola County prosecutors filed terrorism-related charges Saturday against three men who they say bought dozens of cell phones Friday in Caro in a globally coordinated plot involving the Mackinac Bridge.
They charged brothers Adham Abdelhamid Othman, 21, and Louai Abdelhamied Othman, 23, along with their cousin, Maruan Awad Muhareb, 18, with identical counts of collecting material to support terrorist acts and surveillance of a vulnerable target with intent to committ terrorism.

I know, just as portrayed in "the Patriot", we will all stand together, especially south of the Mason Dixon...
I don't think they realize what they are really up against.
After all, living as they do, subjugated, majority "unarmed", they can't possibly understand that every man, woman, and child will stand up and "bear arms."
PS. You are a "lady" and one with a damn good point.
Does opening them on the counter and getting their crumbs on the counter count? :) Shocking how they can SELL the products from a cloven hoof. Hypocrites, but if it make money for terrorists, I guess its ok.
I have ol' timers, but I read it all here on Free Republic, and much later, in the SF Chronical, albeit, short.
Free Republic always scoops the media by days, if not weeks.
This took place probably end 2000 begining 2001.
When did the FBI start selling cell phones?
Franklin was not dealing with suicidal maniacs.
Reagan retreated when they attacked the Marines.
That guy was not Muslim. No evidence indicates he was a convert either or had any connection with terrorists. Rumour does not pass as evidence either.
Acid? Hilarious. Do you have any idea of how much acid would be required to cut a 24" cable or how long it would take.
You are completely wrong about the ease of bringing down one of these bridges.
This has been my biggest concern since Breslan.
You do not have a clue if you believe GOP "purists" are the equivalent of the Party of Treason nutballs. They are not even close. One is committed to protecting this nation and the other to surrender. Disagreeing with the methods of the first in no way justices such a ridiculous statement.
You have to be kidding.
UGHly.
Quite the contrary those who actually worked on the bridge have verified his contentions and shown yours to be nothing but fantasy.
"...I highly doubt your state rates terribly high on the list of high profile targets.:
Ambassador Bridge and the tunnel are big targets. While I cannot provide numbers, the amount of trade between the US and CA over or under these two passages over the river is huge.
The auto industry is also very dependent on the them.
Huge economic blow.
".....70,000 plus people at a U of M football game?" Try 110,000 plus.
Isn't that 110,000 number derived using Calypso Luey's million man math? ;-)
Oh yeah it is; it's about 9 hours from Dearborn to Macinac Bridge.
By horse and buggy. I made it to Rochester Hills, (near Pontiac) in 3 hour 45 minutes. Of course, that was at speeds that might require jail time.
"withstood some incredible winds and severe snow and rain storms"
A few years back a Volkswagen was blown off the bridge.
We'll see. I doubt much will come of this. When the feds pick it up let me know.
It takes governments years to get such things from design to operation. And major training programs are required. There are whole infrastructures already in existence necessary for such weapons systems to be developed.
This is nothing like 911 which essentially used the pre-existing strengths of Civilization against itself. Any future attacks will follow this pattern for the foreseeable future. It was an elegantly conceived endeavor costing little with staggering results.
There is little likelihood that the terror organizations are going to spend years and billions of dollars for a weapon which would be unlikely of achieving mass casualities. A plane of that size would not have a sufficiently large payload potential to justify it.
