Standing By Bush
WP ^ | Aug. 13, 2006 | Joshua Muravchik

But for neocons or any other conservatives to turn against George W. Bush would be a terrible mistake. Presidents invariably disappoint their strongest supporters. Their powers are limited, and they must cope with Congress, public opinion, unwieldy agencies and, where foreign policy is concerned, other nations that can help or hinder us.

Middle Eastern terrorists had been coldly murdering Americans for three decades, but from Nixon through Clinton, no president dared face the issue head-on.

This led to the Sept. 11 attacks, putting Bush to the test. Liberals said we should continue to treat terrorism as a law enforcement issue. Others would have attacked al-Qaeda in Afghanistan and left it at that. In contrast, Bush set forth the enormous goal of destroying terrorist groups; cutting off government support for terrorists, if necessary by regime changes; and engineering a new culture in the Middle East by means of democratization. This was a plan to warm the hearts of neocons, embodying ideas for which we had long been arguing (and giving rise to inflated tales of neocon influence, even though few neocons served in the administration).

Bush has taken on the one problem that is by far most important, and he has done it with remarkable perseverance. He led our nation into a war that is both just and necessary and that he knew could not be finished on his watch -- a thankless undertaking. For this he deserves unflagging support from neocons and other conservatives, and indeed from all Americans.

Excellent article that should be taken to heart.

God only knows, what would have happened if we had Gore or Kerry as presidents during this critical times.

It's imperative that we keep the Republicans in power in Congress, to avoid the Dems blocking the all important War on Terror.

It's obvious. Manhattan would be a nuclear wasteland while either Gore or Kerry would be handing over the keys to the White House to bin Laden.

"God only knows, what would have happened if we had Gore or Kerry as presidents during this critical times."

A stunning argument why so many of us contributed and voted for GW in the first place. That said, who better to question the why and what for of things not understood.

We have been left just a tad bit "uninformed" by "the President" and just left to come to the conclusion we are just supposed trust he knows best and we have no right to question nor criticize his positions when we would like to be informed.

Is that how our founding fathers pictured the rights of the electorate when drawing up our Constitution? I don't think so. And I, as others, am able to "blindly follow and totally trust" for just so long.

And as yours, that is only my fair opinion.

Isn't it just grand we can all have them and the freedom to express them?

One way we can stand by Bush is to thart evil where we find it. We are in a war on terrorism, and we are planning a boycott against CBS and its advertisers if it gives airtime to the terrorist dictator of Iran on Sunday.

We believe it is wrong for the following reasons: He still threatens to kill all Americans and Jews; he violates his own citizen's human rights; he refuses UN resolutions to stop his nuke program; we are in a war on terror, and do not need to add fuel to the fire, having undiscerning minds influenced by him.

Please contact CBS nationally and locally. The advertisers should be notified, and allowed to pull out.

www.cbs.com

Here is a link of the 39 CBS TV Stations http://www.cbstvdmg.com/affiliates The Los Angeles CBS affiliates cover over 38 million homes.

For this local advertising

For the national advertising

If you doubt boycotts work, follow the objections and answers in this current thread:

Please spread the word!
And pray!

Well there we have it. Should any conservative dare to question the wisdom of negotiating with Hizb and Lebanon (the nation that supports Hizb), we too will be relegated to barking moonbat status. Forget that Hizb and Lebanon killed US Marines for sport and adulation. We must toe the line. Keep the Republicans that dare not question anything in office. And by the way, the Executive is sending monthly reports to congress regarding War Powers. Is Congress or the media giving us monthly summary (declassified) briefings? Why not? Oh right. We should blindly trust all three branches of government. Nevermind.

I think this is a terrific idea.

Is there any way to find out who the Captains of Industry are that are advertising this 60 Minutes piece of terrorist propaganda?

In a prior post on another thread, if we could find out who the advertisers are we could bombard them directly and perhaps a FReeper with connections could start the ball rolling with a few comments on the issue by Rush, Hannity, O'Reilly, and Beck, to mention a few who could reach millions of Americans who'd like nothing better than see this program go where it belongs - down the toilet.

It will be easy to boycott them once the show is aired, but they should have a chance to pull out now.

I have written CBS, and gotten no response.

I think you have a good idea, to write O'Reilly et al. We have one day before CBS can change its mind and not air it.

Bad news too is that C-Span has decided to air it the next day.
America, please wake up and fight terrorists! We don't need them on our TVs nor on the TVs of the teenagers next door!

We must toe the line

I would rather "blindly trust" the Government I voted for then blindly hate it like the Always Bitching Freepers do.

Way past time for the Freeper Fringes grow up and accept that not 100% of ONLY what they want can be done the second they want it done. They aren't standing on any "principals", they are just acting like petulent spoiled children. Just throwing the latest tempertanrum because you cannot have everything you want. Rational adult minds understand the plain necessity of compromise, children throw temper tantrums because they refuse to accept that factual reality.

Bush and his team have FAR more information then any of us and are in contact with the Israelis. Your emotion based feelings are irrelevant. We are a Constitutional Republic, NOT a Direct Democracy, the Always Whining don't get to vote on every single policy decision. That why 64 million of us voted FOR Bush. We picked THEM to make these decisions, not the Always Whining. What I see here day in and day out is knee jerk Bush hate. We would take the pompous rantings endlessly about "principals" if the Perpetual Whiners HAD any. All we see here is the latest tempertatrum thrown NOT because the Always Bitching have ANY better ideas but simply are looking for the next excuse to bitch about the President.

Everything in life requires compromise. ALL you Freeper Fringers people do is bitch, bitch bitch about everything. Sorry but any rational adult KNOWS a glass 60% full of pure clear Conservative Water is FAR better then the 100% glass of total Leftist poison the are drawing for themselves.

Frankly WHO needs people who only shoot at their own side on the team? The Always Crying posters actions make them active PR allies of the Moonbats. IT NOT us, BUT the Perpetual Whiners that put themselves on the same side as the Moonbats. The Whiners have reached the point they merely look for the next thing to cry about. Most of us are complete sick of hearing the same whining over and over and over and over.

Here is a clue. ACTUALLY whole heartedly SUPPORT the President on ONE thing. So far ALL Freeper Perpetual Whiners do is whine, that makes us wonder JUST whose side they all really are on?

We have been left just a tad bit "uninformed" by "the President

No we have not. Those standing around whining because the Junk Media doesn't spoon feed them what they want to hear are the WILLINGLY uniformed. Most of us have realized YEARS ago that we have to be our own Journalists and quit sitting on our butts waiting to be spoon fed by a "News Media" that is our mortal foes. Turn OFF the junk media. Listen to Talk Radio, read the blogs, do 15 minutes research here or else where around the web. Absurd how so many supposed "Conservatives" spend all their time bitching because the President does come by every other day to hold their hand and dry their tears.

Curious you invoke the Constitution when you obviously miss it basic point. We are a Constitutional Republic, not a Direct Democracy. We hire the Congress and the President to do certain duties for us. They are OUR Representatives. We did NOT hire them to come hat in hand and bend the knee to every perpetually grouchy whining old "Conservative" and beg the Always Pouting's blessing on each and every decision. That is a position the Always Whining have wrongly claimed for themselves. Sorry but we did NOT elect any of you people to anything. We did elect this President and this Congress.

Score Whiners NOTHING. President: All the points.

Of course, silly me. You're correct. We hire rulers every 2, 4, and 6 years respectively not "representatives". My bad.

And none of us have any right to be critical, especially in public.

And what's that you say, I'm not really a Cabinet member? Gollllllllleeeeeeeeyeeeeee! Shazam! Is that a shock! Mea Culpa! Mea Culpa!

"Dry our tears"?

Good one!

Slapped me right down, ya did!

Here's the deal. You have every right to question any decision. However, when those questions become attacks on the President's integrity, you have crossed the line.

Example: I am not sure about the Lebanese-Israeli cease fire. I have a lot of questions about how effective it will be.

However, I trust the President as one who has consistently supported Israel. Therefore my question about this policy is based on the assumption that either I am wrong, or the President is being guided by intelligence I don't have, or that he has made a mistake. I do not think this decision was made because he is betraying Israel.

Can you see the difference?

Things for you to consider:

"Presidents invariably disappoint their strongest supporters. Their powers are limited, and they must cope with Congress, public opinion, unwieldy agencies and, where foreign policy is concerned, other nations that can help or hinder us. "

"When Israel was attacked by Hamas and Hezbollah, two tentacles of the international terrorist jihad, much of the rest of the world responded in knee-jerk fashion, chastising Israel's reaction as "disproportionate." But Bush insisted on supporting Israel's attempt to break the terrorist sword hanging over it."
