Vindicated (President Bush on War on Terror)
IBD ^ | Aug. 11, 2006 | IBD

War On Terror: George Bush and Tony Blair have been ceaselessly lambasted for charting a new course to defend the free world against terrorism. The foiling of the British airline plot proves how right they've been.

But these two leaders have been right all along in recognizing the magnitude of what the civilized world faces, and the extraordinary measures required in defending us against this new threat.

Right there are two areas in which Bush has been attacked: the National Security Agency's international phone monitoring and the Treasury Department's surveillance of international financial transactions. And it's now more obvious than ever that such methods are imperative if terrorist cells are to be stopped before they strike.

How about we start with people like you, who sign up and immediately start trying to stir up problems.

Can you say ZOT!!

No Hannibal Hamlin is exactly correct. I have seen those post by those whiners who act like spoiled children who don't ge their way.

One other thing. How do you know Hannibal Hamlin is not a previous Freeper. His post suggest he has been here before

When history is told ... The world will thank Blair and Bush for being strong leaders just like Churchill

*points to own tagline*

Sure thing. As you can tell from the current question on Israel, you're in good company with folks that support them strongly... unlike a certain other sizeable faction within a certain unnamed political party...

I'm sure that Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid will call a joint press conference tomorrow and acknowledge this.

Nah!!!

Why?

What Hannibal Hamlin said is the absolute truth -- or don't you read the posts here?

There are indeed many who keep attacking Republicans, agitate to get conservatives to stay home and vote third party, which, of course will result in the Dems getting elected. And I have seen quite a few posts, where the posters try to create a moral equivalence between Republicans and Dems and advocate voting for the Dems.

So, I hope you realize how critical it is to keep Republican control of Congress, to be able to continue to effictively wage the War on Terror, and as such, you will make sure to get out to vote for Republicans, right?

It is one thing to abhor and object to war. It is quite another to connect the stoning to death-chopping off hands-sawing off heads with a dull blade-'honor' (less) killing mass of those who want to murder you because you draw breath with that abhorrence.

Why? How can a woman who wants her sexual freedom not say "boo" about clitoridectomies or betrothals of 3 month old girls? How can a man who loves his football or his muscle car deride and otherwise shoot blanks at the real reality show-of people who would blow you to bits out of the sky because you happened to be there, or use the very technology you require for business and pleasure-to destroy your life?

To quote Tolstoy: "What must we do?" Can we suggest to those who speak of peace that they are not really pacifists, since taking away their SUVs, jet skis, air conditioning, Nikes and digital TVs are things they would kill for?

The populace may want peace, but that's an easy concept from a Lazy Boy or a corner office. Were the water cluttered by the cement of fallen buildings in our retention ponds, the bodies of neighbors burned and strung up from the our Interstate overpasses, or the aisles at the our grocery empty of cheap produce, Angus steak and cereal choices, would the people who now cry foul cry havoc?

The iron might of those who will fight to the death to defend their principles cannot be the America of yesteryear, even if the tolerance of all things equally makes American heritage equivocal. The philosophical laziness that argues for parity between beliefs and methods ignores, no, denies this historical fact: when the Centurion shows up, it's already too late.

Veni. Vidi. Parli? Talk can neither replace or negotiate for the surety, the power of vindication: I come. I see. I conquer. Be it the Rubicon, Tigris, Yellow, Nile, Amazon or the Lilani. Vici.

I don't understand the liberals angst over necessary tactics used against terrorist networks. We're in a life and death struggle in a non conventional war. It is critical that we prevail. To me it's a big duh. Do whatever it takes to protect me and mine.

Liberals will just say that we pissed off the terrorists so much that we caused them to want to attack us, so really it's actually Bush's fault!

Agreed. If I read one , I read a hundred and one posts and more during the heady immigration threads of posters saying they would vote third party or stay at home to teach the Republicans a lesson.

Either that or to prove themselves right. No matter, it's stupid.

...that brought tears to my eyes.

It's true. We're in a deadly clash of cultures against a cunning and ruthless enemy. And many of our neighbors have yet to realize that.
