(August 11, 2006)Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan was being treated Friday evening in the emergency room of Providence Health Center in Waco.
Sheehan, who has been on a liquids-only diet for 37 days as part of a fast in protest of the war, was described as being gaunt and pale as she arrived at the hospital.
An assistant said Sheehan, who flew to Central Texas after a trip with other activists to Jordan to meet with members of Iraqs new parliament, was being treated for exhaustion.
Sheehan, whose 24-year-old son Casey died in Iraq in 2004 while serving with Fort Hoods 1st Cavalry Division, returned to Central Texas last week, after purchasing a 5-acre tract in the Crawford area.
She again took up her vigil in the area of the presidents Central Texas ranch, where afternoon temperatures have been at or above the century mark.
I thought that was what her side wished, I thought our side was better, and bigger than that.
My mistake.
I guess so.
I won't make the mistake again.........at least not on this forum.
And to get Dr's orders to get off her "fast".
And to get out of the 110 degree "protest".
My first thought, exactly. And Lew Rockwell, no less!
Pocket change from Soros.
Oh, yes! Just down Highway 6 from the hospital. Can't be more than a mile or so.
For Cindy, SNAFU.
Just my opinion that the sham fast isn't the Shehamites problem but letting it get out that standing around in the Texas summer heat may not be the best thing for non locals may prevent pampered life lib supporters, especially the ones with money, from dropping by.
Dingbat diet ping.
The owners of my company are Rush 24 subscribers and I have been enjoying all the benefits thereof...
BTW I have a Freeper crush on Jack Deth. I know you guys are occasional Walter Reed Freepers and wondered how things were going. (?) (also, flaunting new tag line. Does it make my screen name look big?)
You reckon there's a chance she will the transfered to Our Lady of the Perpetually Insane in Rusk?
Going on a full liquid diet and hanging around even in the shade in August in Texas isn't very art-smay. I have little sympathy for her, though. She's been a pain in the rear end around here for the last couple of years.
Great line!
She's from California.
She's more than used to the heat.
If it's anything other than a publicity stunt then I'm sure an enema or good strong laxative would be the antidote.
I honestly hope the bitch dies

Curious what the new Camp Casey is like at night, and with a full moon climbing above the treeline, I entered camp Thursday night.
The woman at the check station asked if I had been converted to peace. What a question. Sure, I drive a pickup, but I dont even own a gun rack. She let me in anyway.
Most of the folks I hung out with are experienced protesters. With acoustic guitar chords drifting across the dusty pasture, Rick, Jesse and Lee tackled such subjects as getting arrested, global warming, trains and the war.
The war is never far away in Crawford.
Im not saying things are tense in President Bushs adopted hometown. But with the old-timers playing dominos at the Masonic Lodge pretty much tight-lipped, biting back hippie jokes, you know both sides arent planning a street dance together anytime soon.
Some merchants are playing it close to the vest, too.
Employees at three Crawford businesses said they had been instructed by their bosses not to talk with the news media, apparently a result of some leftover hard feelings from last year.
Thats not the only thing leftover from last year. T-shirts with I Survived Crawford 2005 are half-price at the Yellow Rose of Texas gift shop downtown.
Camp Casey organizers say theyll have live music this Saturday, probably featuring an Austin band. And theyre keeping their fingers crossed that Willie Nelson will make it down in his biodiesel-burning bus to perform.
Speaking of buses: Its easy to tell when veteran and war protester Jim Goodnow is back in town. His renovated, 40-foot Silver Eagle with Bring Them Home Now painted in red letters on the side arrived in Crawford Wednesday night. Jim said Crawford feels like home. Last year, he says, he even made friends with Dorothy and Nick Spano, owners of the Coffee Station, a local hangout for Bush backers.
Also returning from last year is James Vergauwen, of Windthorst, and his big, saddle-bagged Harley. Waving at motorists from behind a row of pro-Bush signs, James is a downtown fixture and very much the antithesis of the Sheehan crowd.
Im all for freedom of speech. But I dont support freedom of slander, he told me, referring to some of Sheehans fiery, Bush-bashing rhetoric. James says if Sheehan is that upset with President Bush and the war she should have refused the insurance check from her sons death instead of using it to buy land for the new camp in Crawford this summer.
Meanwhile, hes taking a low-key approach: Smile and wave. Thats about all we can do.
The mayors office said that work on hooking up Sheehans water will resume next week.
A retired painter from Overland Park, Kansas, spent the day painting eight-foot boards to be cut and made into crosses. As the sun tracked across the August sky, Tom Wienstroer kept losing his shade, moving his sawhorses out of the direct sun. Plans call for over 2,500 crosses. One for every well, you know.
Protest organizers said they plan to give blood at The Masonic Lodge on Fourth Street as a show of good will. Blood donations will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. And protesters are hosting a barbecue at noon Saturday at the camp.
Everyones invited including domino players.
