Looking for Map of Cell Phone Purchases
self | August 11, 2006 | madison10

Posted on 08/11/2006 3:01:13 PM PDT by madison10

Has any one made a map, or done any tracking, of cities/towns the cell phones are being purchased? or of where the suspects are being picked up?

Thanks.

I'm not aware of brand names. Just the idea of a cellphone being such a low cost item its now being sold at the dollar store.

Like I said I have no doubt its true. I am amused by reality quite often.

I also clarified that when I said that when a Middle Easterner is trying to purchase a large quantities of these materials it should be reported. I also stated that if such Middle Easterner tries to make such purchases, I would have no problem of shooting him first, then asking questions later.

I wonder if Mafioso got incensed enough, they'd assault Mecca. They're Catholic (or nominally so) and don't care about religious tolerance.

I think the phone companies need to start "randomly" ringing all their phones on a "test the system" basis at various times, especially during commuter times in the am or eve's as well as on special holidays....you might just unexpectantly make a few ied's go off at the wrong times and send a few islamofascists home to Allah!

While I would hope no one innocent may truly get hurt, something has to be done to make even would be terrorists mistrust the weapons they are making!

GPS tracking, for one.

All cell phones are able to be located once they are used, if you know which one you are looking for. Triangulating their position via cell towers has been done for a number of years. No GPS device need be implemented in the phone.

The main problem is the anonmity of the caller. Since they are bought for cash, there is no connection with the person who bought it.

Personally, I am not sure these would be AQ types buying these phones. The 9-11 guys followed the rules and didn't care if you knew who they were AFTER 9-11. I believe the same would be true here, unless the AQ types are running out of dupes willing to suicide for the 'cause'. I would more readily believe these phones are for people that want to use them and toss em. Drug dealers and gang members. Only problem with that thought is... I am not sure how many drug dealers or gang members are ME descent.

So I guess we are back to AQ.

Good points, but one must wonder what purpose is served by purchasing 200 or more phones? That is a huge red flag.

Definite red flag. If not AQ types, then drug dealers would probably want them for drug deals. Temporary links between the buyer and a seller. The dealer would probably change phones once a week while handing them out to his dealers.

Of course, the same model would work with the AQ types. That would allow the cells to remain in contact with eachother but not long enough to be tracked. They would still have to meet ocassionally to exchange the new numbers (like at a local coffee shop).

So, one solution could be to record all calls from pre-paid phones. There may be millions of them, but this way, once you find a guy, you can trace back thru all his calls. Of course, you should also be tagging all intercepted cell calls with the relative gps information gathered from the cell towers. That way, once you have identified one phone, it may lead you to many others.

You need to move Uniontown a bit further west. The PA Turnpike extension (66) will take you from Murrysville south towards Uniontown.
