I just heard the same on the radio on "breaking news". Israel not happy with UN peace plan that has yet to be voted on and they have ordered that the offensive to continue.

In honor of Olmert I think the IDF should form a kick line and perform the Hokey Pokey.Well, that's really what it's all about.

No... not at all. I'm just saying that Pickett's charge was made in frustration.

JUST posted that analogy on another thread...

"Condi Rice and Kofi Anan are still in conference..."
Please, please, please! Can we stop sitting down to talk with this man, this body (the UN). The UN is not and can never be up to the challenge of establishing a peaceful settlement in the Mid-East, or anywhere else. They are good for providing humanitary aid to...
No, wait. They can't even do that. Close the building. Evict those that have set up shop there. Tell them, "Thank you, you may go home now." Let's stop fooling ourselves that these folks know how to solve anything except when it comes to discrediting the US and its allies.

Good. I would prefer Israel defend herself rather than the UN to do it for her. The people of Israel will back their government as long as it leads them to victory. The Prime Minister has understood there is no alternative. See my posting of Caroline Glick's article this morning for the background perspective.

"Not ready for prime time."
No he isn't.
And all his dillydallying and one minute go, next minute don't go, is costing Israeli soldiers lives big time.
Makes you appreciate what a great war leader President Bush has been, and thank heavens that Hanoi John "I voted for it before voting against it" Kerry, didn't become president.

He was for it before he was against it.
LOL!!!
Ehud Olmert tries manfully to save himself from a vote of No Confidence before the month is out.
I will bet you that this is being coordinated with the WH. If there's a "de facto" ceasefire, the Arabs and the Russians will dig in their heels at the UN. Bush and Condi need the Hezzies to start screaming for a ceasefire. That means the IDF needs to start inflicting real pain on the ground.
Good call by Olmert, but four weeks too late, I'm afraid.
Be Seeing You,
Chris

I didn't see it so much out of frustration, but really just an unimaginative frontal assault on a well entrenched enemy. What I cannot understand is why they wouldn't do an airborne or seaborne assault to hit the Hezzie's rear and draw them out of those fortifications. Maybe now we could see some more imagination in the IDF's actions...a Patton-like strike through the center of the line and an encircling movement?
