Intelligence gathering, which was clearly lacking when the war began. If you factor in the shooting down of the drone last week, and Hezbollahs inability to hit Isreal beyond Haifa, you would understand that Lebanon is ready to accept almost any terms for cease fire if they can get Israel to leave.
They cannot resupply while Israel sits at the borders, and Hezbollah never had C&C to begin with, beyond a cell phone to Iran. You will have to just watch what happens in the next few days.

I think this was the UN's greatest stroke of genius. All the grown-up children who collected for Unicef can't admit to themselves that the UN is a failed institution ("Damn, we gave up all that candy for nothing?").

Man would you give it up? They were not friggin gathering intelligence. They new what they were up against. The overwhelmingly incompetent strategy set forth by Olmert and his hand wringing clique is what determined the silly tactics on the ground. Had the original plan been green lighted there would've been no need for any of that nonsense. They would've landed above the Litani and pushed east to the Syrian border.
