President Bush was widely criticized by Muslim leaders Thursday for saying that the breakup of an alleged plot to blow up airliners over the Atlantic Ocean was a triumph in the "war against Islamic fascists."
Muslims, already resentful of the scrutiny they have been under since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, said the politically charged phrase unfairly connected one of the world's great religions with Nazism and totalitarianism --- and fueled hostility against Islam and Muslims in America.
They said it also contradicted Bush's earlier statements that Islam was a religion of peace.
"There's nothing Islamic about fascism," said Edina Lekovic, communications director for the Muslim Public Affairs Council in Los Angeles.

If American Muslims spent half the time denouncing and working against the terror generated by their precious religion as they do whining about their bottomless pit of grievances, they might generate some sympathy. But every complaint from these emotional babies merely adds to the public's deteriorating view of them and their religion.
That is not the point, Ms. Lekovic. The point is, and it is undeniable, that fascists have overtaken your religion and now their voices rule the day. The only time we hear a peep out of people like you, Ms. Lokovic, is when a spade has been called a spade.

I'm resentful for their religious leaders' lack of condemnation of terrorist activities. Now that we have the proper vocab in place and being used by the President, all we need is to round them all up and ship them back to their homeland and tell them to leave us the he** alone.
Moderate Muslims need to EARN the right to be outraged - by venting their outrage on the jihadists in their midst.
Until Muslims lead the fight against jihadists, they won't have the moral authority to complain. IMHO.

I don't want to pick nits either, but you are quite wrong to consider Islam a religion. It is nothing like a religion in the way westerners think about religion. Islam is much more like the political movement that you want to distinguish it from. And, the characteristics of Islam fit the definition of facism to a tee. There is a definition of facism in this thread that you ought to check out.
Not only that, but hthere are historical ties of significant degree between Islam and German Naziism.

Good point. It also means they are relegated to using that technology in less than inventive ways. Take missiles for instance, they just fill them with HI EX and kill people. We use missiles to put INTEL Sats in space to help us in finding and killing them.
I think "moderate Muslim" is an oxymoron. But, if they do exist, they have done a pi$$ poor job of policing their own. I agree - if they aren't with us, they're against us and since they have such contempt for our Western culture and way of life - they should be only too happy to go back to the hell hole they came from.
Clearly these vets have shown that they value our country and the liberties it affords its citizens. They are not the problem. The problem lies with the terrorists and those by their actions (or inactions) support them. THEY are who we now speaking against. Holding their lazy, good-for-nothing feet to the fire.

The problem with Islam, unlike Judaism and Christianity, there is no soul-searching, self-assessment and introspection.
One thing you will never, EVER hear from them are questions like, "We have to ask ourselves what we Muslims have done to make Americans hate us so much."
