President Bush was widely criticized by Muslim leaders Thursday for saying that the breakup of an alleged plot to blow up airliners over the Atlantic Ocean was a triumph in the "war against Islamic fascists."
Muslims, already resentful of the scrutiny they have been under since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, said the politically charged phrase unfairly connected one of the world's great religions with Nazism and totalitarianism --- and fueled hostility against Islam and Muslims in America.
They said it also contradicted Bush's earlier statements that Islam was a religion of peace.
"There's nothing Islamic about fascism," said Edina Lekovic, communications director for the Muslim Public Affairs Council in Los Angeles.

We are in a trap if we think castigating all will help. It will not. It will make the moderates run to the extremists out of resentment. IMHO. You don't want a deepening cycle here.

I noticed that NOWHERE in the article, did they even mention a peep about the plot getting foiled! All they cared about was the WORDS he used to describe the plotters! HOLY CRAP!! You think they'd be happy that the plot was foiled and that the the BAD Islamos got caught!

Islam is three things: a political system; an uncompromising set of rules for personal behaviour that is stone age and set in stone; and a religion. Inseperable. Like the ingredients in gunpowder.
In times of extreme strife and murder, the political and militaristic expansionist side is most evident.
It is not coincidence that islam is always referred to by the maggots as "the islamic nation", singular, as is the word umma.
So the word Fascism finds a perfect fit.
If I recall so far back, weren't the murderers on 9/11 all Middle Eastern Muslims? And didn't they as much as admit that they were doing it BECAUSE they were Middle Eastern Muslims? So is it all that odd that scrutiny of Middle Eastern Muslims increased after 3,500 of our countrymen were slaughtered senselessly? Besides, if said scrutiny makes you uncomfortable, all the more reason to leave. Find somewhere where your gutter religion is more welcome.

No, what fueled hostility against Muslims in America was the most recent attempt by Muslims to murder thousands of innocent people because they're Americans.

It wasn't the crack MI5 or Scotland Yard that broke this case. It was a muslim woman who was a neighbor to one of the safe houses. I believe this will bear out as fact.
