To Washington National the approaches are over water
Flew into Reagan National Airport hundreds of times. Many of those times, I thought the wing tip would hit one of those buildings along the Potomac by the Watergate.
If a bomb were to be detonated during final descent, those planes could wipe out about a mile of condos, hotels and commercial buildings.

I dont believe so ,but thats your opinion. It would take a massive explosion to scatter the pieces that far. much more than that provided in the bottom of a soda bottle of explosives. I believe the best bet for the terrorists was high in the sky while the plane was pressurised. The small amount they had might bring the plane down there. I believe that an explosion with the limited amount of explosives available to the crazed bombers would leave the plane mostly intact although too damaged to continue flying.
Just my opinion.
