Mitt will miss these waning days as a caped crusader
The Boston Herald ^ | 08/11/2006 | Howie Carr

Gov. Mitt Romney’s going to miss all this come January.

Mitt’s a teetotaler, to be sure, but yesterday he was higher than a kite - he was high on being governor. He was high on live TV. At 9 a.m., he was on Fox News Channel with anchor Greg Jarrett back in New York. Then, less than an hour later, Jarrett hears from the control room that they’re going back to Boston, for a live press conference at the State House.

Romney had called out the National Guard.

“I interviewed him at the top of the hour,” the puzzled anchor said, “and he didn’t mention this . . . ”

Because he hadn’t thought of it, Greg! Mitt beat Arnold Schwarzenegger to the punch, although of course the Calif. governor can’t run for president, and Mitt can, and will.

“We have had six cancellations inbound,” Mitt was saying, “and on domestic flights we are seeing delays of 30 to 90 minutes . . . ”

For the last two weeks, Mitt’s been Fat Matt Amorello. Before that, during the spring floods, he was Harvey Leonard the weatherman. Now, he morphs into Phil Orlandella, the Massport flight-update guy.

“They have banned gels, toothpaste, hair spray and the like . . . ”

No wonder Mitt canceled his campaign swing to Wisconsin last night. What’s a road trip without hair spray?

“ . . . automatic weapons . . . roadblocks and random searches as well as trunk searches from time to time . . . ”

Look, up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Super Mitt! All he needs is a cape.

Ritt Momney’s using his Bully Pu;pit. Nothing like government subsidized campaigning by using the military option.

But the exercise is good for the NG, and the Columbian Gangs and Militant Muslims of Boston get to see what they will someday be facing across their baracades. And it cows them. That is good.

Mitt , get religion. Abandon your RINOism.

Howie keeps saying that Mitt is in his element dealing with these crises. He certainly is a great manager, and is a strong leader in these situations.

I hope he is able to win favor in the primaries. If not, I think he should move to Michigan, get elected Governor there, then run for President. Anyone know the only other person to be elected Governor of two different states?

"Anyone know the only other person to be elected Governor of two different states?" - That drunk Bill Weld tried to do it and failed in NYS earlier this year, but there was one other who was Governor of 2 states.

Yes, there was - Sam Houston. He was Governor of Tennessee and Texas. Plus, he was the President of Texas, to boot.

Romney is a horse's butt

I still remeber in 94 when the early polls showed he had a double digit lead over Teddy in his Senate bid

Good Old Super Mitt giddy with victory dreams comes out and says " I don't want the support of the radical NRA or Christian Conservative types"

Last I checked Teddy was sit sleeping off booze binges in the Senate

Pathetic typical unprincipled political hack

And if he would have actively sought support from the NRA of "Christian Conservatives" he would not have been elected Governor and would not have been able to implement any remotely conservative reforms. Sometimes you have to concede some issues in order to win others. Pick your battles.

If he was a hack, he would have hired Fat Matt, not fired him.

I assume his position on abortion during the governor's campaign was not to your liking. I recall he said, that, although he was firmly against abortion 'rights', he would not pursue the issue, because the vast majority of Mass. approves of abortion.

And don't forget Red Ted's false television ads just days before the election.

And if he would have actively sought support from the NRA of "Christian Conservatives"
There was absolutely no need for his statement- period
No way he is remotel presidential material

Gun Owners and Christian Conservatives gave the GOP control of congress in 94 and have kept them in power since

You don't see the democrats dumping on their Black Base voters with stupid statements
