Two Lubbock Women Missing & Possibly Endangered (disappeared from workplace)

Tonight, two Lubbock women are missing and police say they may be in danger. The two are employees at the Lubbock State School who left for lunch around noon yesterday and never returned.

51-year-old Louetta Kay Harrelson and 61-year-old Peggy Merimon were last seen getting into a car with an unidentified man. NewsChannel 11's Jennifer Vogel spoke with some family members, asking for your help to get their mother and her colleague back home.

Peggy Merimon's family tells us she would never go this long without calling her family. They say they are worried sick, and hope their mother is not in danger. "She didn't pick up my dad yesterday from work, something she had to do daily. We became very concerned because she didn't show up." That's when Natosha Davis, Merimon's daughter, knew something was wrong and went looking for answers. Her sister, Sammie McBride says, " we both found out she hadn't been seen since lunch. It was very odd. I had a strange feeling, something was wrong."

Peggy is a wife, a mother of seven, with 23 grandchildren. Her family says if she was okay, there is no reason she wouldn't have called. "We all check in on her and we know we're loved by her and we love her."

Police say the disappearance sent red flags after they realized the women left valuable items behind. Family members tell us she left her office keys on the desk, and left her car. They also say her purse and cell phone are missing.

Police say the women could be in danger and all the families want to know is if their loved ones are safe. "I want to know she's in good health and coming back, and we'll see her soon."

Peggy Merimon is 5-feet 6-inches tall, about 150 pounds. She has dark hair and green eyes. And was last seen wearing a white collared shirt, with pink bow and black pants.

Kay Harrelson is 5-feet 7-inches tall, about 135 pounds. She has blondish gray hair, and was last seen wearing a white blouse and blue jeans. The man they left with is a middle aged, white male, with a gray beard. His car is described as a gray or silver 4-door sedan with rusting.

I heard about this earlier on the radio. Only recently did KCBD say anything about them getting into a car with an "unknown male". There is something weird in this. I am hoping that they are alive and well.

Harrelson`s husband, Danny, says he talks to his wife at least 10-20 times a day. She would never go this long without calling, either. He says it`s out of the ordinary for her to go out to lunch at all, not to mention with a man no one seems to know.

Davis says her mother rarely left the school for lunch, either.

"It`s out of the ordinary. She usually stays at work, drinks a Coke and keeps working," she says.

Police say the man they left with is a middle-aged white man with white hair and a beard. Family, witnesses and police say they do not know who the man is. The car they left in is an older model Buick or Dodge covered in rust.

That crossed my mind too - but since there were two of them .. and they were supposedly seen with an "unknown" male.. that's what's so strange...

Maybe a "Thelma and Louise" moment?!

So could the anthrax vial in the ER be a diversion to pull resources away from the search from these two??

Hmmm hadn't thought about that - other than I was surprised when reading Lubbock online about all the activity there.. I guess I've always pictured it as a town where Mac Davis is watching it in his rearview mirror... ;)

I have no idea what the State School teaches.. unless it's either for unruly kids ... or maybe severely disabled? I should try to figure it out.

I've been reading about the women in other forums... they don't sound flaky at all... which makes the whole thing REALLY weird.
