Love is a Battlefield
IDF soldier received heart shaped cookie somewhere near the Lebanon border...
I guess head over to the next one.
Perhpas you're right and AQ and Iran are more connected than I thought.
I actually wouldn't be surprised if Bin Laden and Zawahiri are chilling out in some villa in the Zagros mountains in some Pasdaran safehouse.
It is a dangerous world out there.
You're also right abouot the 9/12 mindset. I've thought for sometime that it's actually to their advantage not to hit us hard again becuase that will increase our will to get them. Right now, this slow drip drip strategy of theirs works because we don't have the will to take them out once and for all and they really haven't done anything to make us want to do so since 9/11.
I think their plan now is to stall for time to get their Nukes, maybe do a Bali, a Madrid, a London Tube every now and then just to let us know they're still around, and wait for W to leave in Jan 09, hope Gore or Clinton gets in and then they'll ramp it up again.
are you guys still here?
I completely agree. These guys aren't always known for their overwhelming intellect but it doesn't seem nearly as difficult to me as figuring out some way to outwit the TSA all of the time.
Okay, but what exactly are we going to bomb in retalitation?
*retaliation
We have a Congress that ties our hands and will require proof of a connection
BTW,
When you see a plot like this that has links to the UK, Pakistan, Italy and the US, it makes the SCOTUS' Hamdan decision that the War on Terror is NOT an International conflict all the more absurd.
That case was a true travesty.
It's a good thing the Brits and the Paks don't worry about the Geneva Conventions for terrorists.
Hey, Jeffers,
I don't agree with you on everything, but that was a great post & most of it is right on the money. Though I think that it would take a lot less than 1 million dead Americans for Tehran to be gone.* And there's no way, short of several dozen nukes, or some sort of epidemic type biological warfare carried out very well, that they'd set us back more than 10 years. Just look at how fast we are recovering (all except maybe New Orleans and a few other isolated spots) from last year's hurricanes.
As for the NRA thing, you'd think the moderate Muslims in this country would realize what risk they are at, and would be working as hard as possible to turn in the cells and the sleepers. Fools that they are...
I would dispute one thing though: There are huge numbers of Muslims in Indonesia, Malaysia, etc. I don't think Islam will "end". We'd have nuclear winter before we could take out half those islands.
Can't disagre with you on that!
Heh, my typing is going ... too late at night! I'll check the new thread and then hit the hay...
CNN wrote an article that indicated Bush was at odds with his staff?
Can I interest you in some land in florida?
Hmmm interesting thought.
Most of the hostile leaks against Rice during this crisis have been that, completely unsubstantiated. The Qana thing was a predictable screwup on the part of the Olmert government's dependence on an air campaign. If you'll recall, Condi was going to return to Beirut for more face time, but then she was told not to come. You need to talk to Pukin' Dog about this. The truth is that Condi and Bush have been together on this thing throughout this crisis. The CIA, on the other hand, has an entirely different agenda.
Anyhoo, I'm not trying to change your mind or anything. Condi played the best hand she could with the bad deck of cards dealt her by Olmert. As it was, she did pretty good. If you look at the text of the agreement, it gives IDF plenty of wiggle room, which I think you'll find was Condi's intention. That's why she spent the extra couple of days roping the French back in from the Arab League position.
Everyone knows this is just halftime until the Persians rearm Hezboallah. Try to understand that the two people in town who know that are Condi and Bush. Unfortunately, Olmert had no idea, so he needs to be taken for a ride by Fat Clemenza. Vote of No Confidence. Netanyahu as the next Prime Minister. By October at the latest. Ahmadhi-Nejad probably just moved up his war schedule.
The important thing, going forward, is that Israel get itself a new, wartime Prime Minister as soon as possible. Bush and Condi have to be pissed at Olmert for having stuck their necks out for that clown for almost four weeks and him having screwed around with the IDF.
Anyhoo, on to the next war. Spengler at the Asia Times says General War with Tehran by the end of the year. I happen to agree with him, although I think it won't happen till 2007. Ahmadhi-Nejad is farther along in his bomb program than is generally suspected.
Welcome!
Is it?
*confused*
I sure wish they could get Bibi back.
