Thanks, it certainly has been a day with extended news bulletins and Sky News suspended all adverts for while to give continuous coverage.

Are things beginning to settle down now? Are flights to the continent leaving and arriving at Heathrow again?

Oh, and how did Heathrow get the name Heathrow? Always wondered. I love British place names.

Yes flights are now departing from LHR, some airlines I believe just canceled some of their flights today but most I understand will be flying tomorrow.

Of course there will be a big backlog of people and freight to move. The freight companies collected our goods today but we were warned they may not fly for a few days.

Regarding the name Heathrow I assume that it is the same as Stanstead and Gatwick that there must be a town near the airport called Heathrow I will see if I can find out. Or does anyone else know?
