A YOUNG white Muslim convert and a teenager were among 24 terrorist suspects being questioned last night about an alleged plot to detonate suicide bombs on five US-bound aircraft, The Times has learnt.

A “martyrdom video”, apparently recorded by a would-be suicide bomber, was found at one of the raided addresses, government sources said. Some of those detained had been under investigation before for extremist activity.
Last night Gordon Brown, the Chancellor, moved to freeze the assets of 19 men arrested in the raids. Several had thousands of pounds in their accounts.
US sources claimed last night that substantial sums of money had been wired from Pakistan to two of the alleged ringleaders so that they could purchase airline tickets. One report said they were planning a “dry run”.
This may have been the event that triggered the decision to arrest the suspects. Co-ordinated arrests were also made in Pakistan, including the detention of figures in the militant group Lashkar-i-Taiba.
Meetings of the Government’s Cobra emergency unit were told that the first wave of bombings was to have targeted five aircraft leaving British airports in the next few days. The destinations, US officials said, were New York, Washington DC, Boston, Chicago and Los Angeles. The plotters are said to have studied the timetables of three US airlines: American, Continental and United.
Security sources said that a second wave of attacks had been considered, with as many as 12 aircraft to be attacked.
Surveillance on internet traffic between the suspected terrorists indicated that they had considered setting off their devices simultaneously in mid-Atlantic but had also discussed trying to blow up the aircraft as they circled above the destination cities. The aim was to cause maximum death and destruction in the air and on American soil.

These things have to be attacked at their roots. How were these terrorist agents cultivated and recruited? A mosque? An islamic chatroom? Crack down on any such entity and entities like it.
I just hope their civil rights weren't violated don't you? Does the NY Times know about Brit Intel knowing about the wiring of money?/sarcasm and anger.

It amazes me how so many in the prisons in this country are converting to Islam. They are willing sheeple.
Do they NOT realize that IF the Islamic dream of world domination came true and we infidels were all slaughtered, then THEY TOO would be slaughtered as they are NOT considered to be true Muslims since they were not born Arab Muslims?

Just finished watching Glenn Beck's show. That's what I've found refreshing about his TV show... he's not playing the PC game. He says we're in a war with Islamic fanatics and he's not afraid to say it on TV.
My guess is they do that for protection.

When I came out of the dental appointment, he had finished this discussion, but from the 'callers' responses, I had a fairly terrifying idea what he said.
PC is going to get us all killed. We really have to seriously look at what we're up against and quit calling it what it isn't (religion of peace). We have to take a hard look at what it is they want--and trust me, it's not platitudes. They want nothing less than to convert the entire world--and kill whoever won't convert.
