Iran's 'supreme leader' Khamenei tells country to brace for war
In the first such order, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has directed its more than 300,000 troops to prepare for a confrontation with Israel and the United States. IRGC has directed and participated in the Hizbullah war against Israel. "Iran's powerful Revolutionary Guards and Basij should prepare themselves to get even with Zionists and Americans," IRGC commander Maj. Gen. Yahya Rahim Safavi said. "The supreme leader [Ali Khamenei] will announce the time for this."

Sometimes "madmen" leave you no options.
That's the same mistake the Japs made before they attacked Pearl Harbor.
I have no doubt that Iran is and has been plotting for a long time now. Ominous feelings are still sending shivers down my spine.
What is the signifigance of Aug 22nd? Is it a holiday for them, or was that date chosen at random by Iwannajihad?
bttt
Any serious provocation will only galvanize the majority of this country, marginalize the Dem fringe peace-niks, and seal the Iranian's regime's fate.
Draw Iran's 300,000 troops into Iraq's desert and cut off all supplies to them. They'll starve to death in a matter of weeks.
It's just as true today as it was a 1000 years ago- an army moves on it's belly. Saddam also ran into that problem when he tried to invade Kwait. His retreating army ran out of supplies. The highway of death was like shooting fish in a barrel.
I think the real translation was: Kiss Your *sses Goodbye
Sort of makes you wonder whether we went into Iraq for a stable Iraq or we went into Iraq on the premise that we will soon be marching on Iran.
Doesn't hurt that we also have a coalition of forces in Afghanistan which also borders Iran.
Is is possible that everyone overlooked this point?
Supposedly, it was the day Mohammed flew to heaven and back on a winged horse. If they believe this, they're delusional enough to believe they can defeat us in combat. They'd be wrong in both instances.
Yes, it's the end of the world... again.
What if they kamikaze raid SE Iraq to try and overrun our bases, using WMD on the troops wherever concentrated. I believe we fared badly in simulations when they used silworms against our ships in the gulf.
Just what ifs - I hope our planners have nasty - real nasty - packages prepared to fend off and slap back iranian assaults against our troops in region.
This all gets uglier if the iraqi shiia are involved and go hezbollah on us.
I need another coffee. Maybe it will all just go away. Or maybe we can vaporize ahmedinajihaad first.
The Islamofascists are confusing restraint with weakness. They are misunderestimating us. Its best that we deal with this menace sooner rather than later.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.
See Joel Rosenberg's article in today's National Review Online for more.
It's supposedly the date - Muslim calendar? - that Mad Mo rode his horse into hell.... errr heaven.
We probably thought we'd have more stability in Iraq at this point. To answer your question, I do believe we were looking down the road at dealing with Iran. I am not sure we thought it would be this soon, however. No matter....we can still handle them.
It only gets more complicated and interesting if N. Korea or China decides to pull a stunt in that part of the world while we deal with Iran.

Doesn't surprise me at all. Them folks like numbers, and there are 22 letters in the Hebrew alphabet...
How reliable is a news site with a shaking hourly gift gif? Not that there is anything wrong with that....
