It's their organizing principle...Communism, Islam, Hinduism, and occasionally Christianity have all been used to excuse hate and anger.

And all get people into the belief mode that the ends justify the means.

Post colonialism, conflict of values, local corruption, real injustice and manipulation by religious leaders who have their own agendas are all playing a role here.

Islam is particularly easy to manipulate this way, but the response of hate is buried deep in the human soul.

Exactly- and like all conspiracy minded people- they foster an US vs THEM mentality...without rallying around some mysterious "THEY"...it falls apart.

Actually, Islam is more of a cult than a religion. It is an all-controlling system that aspires to be a form of political governance, an authoritarian religious system revolving around clergy who control every aspect of the follower's life, and a self-enclosed world where everything is dictated to you, down the hand you use for personal hygeine purposes. There is no other world religion that is constructed this way, and there is no other world religion that has regarded the sword as the way to spread itself or that has been violent since its very beginnings.

For a lot of people, Islam was probably simply part of the dysfunctional third-world country in which they found themselves and they probably didn't reflect on it very much or even practice it very dilgently. But for dissatisfied young people or losers of any type, it acts just like any other cult, making them feel that they are special, entitled to hate or kill because of their specialness, and controlling every aspect of their lives to this end. Paradoxically, of course, they are dissatisfied because of the dysfunctionality of their cult-controlled cultures, which prevent all human creativity and progress. But their response is to try to exterminate everything outside of the cult.
