LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A new MTV cartoon depicting black women squatting on all fours tethered to leashes and defecating on the floor is drawing fire from several prominent African Americans who call the episode degrading.

Critics say MTV showed especially poor judgment because the weekly animated program, "Where My Dogs At?", appeals to young teens and airs at an hour, 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays, when many children are watching television.

The show just completed its initial eight-episode run on MTV2, a spin-off channel of the music video institution that recently celebrated its 25th anniversary

The CEO of the corporation that owns MTV should get made to get on his knees and suck senna tablets until he drops one on the floor. Their prominent stockholders should then be sent cute little doggie bags of it via FEDEX.

Let me get this straight. They are upset about the "leash" part of it, but not the defecating????

Another reason why we should have the right to choose the stations we pay for. Sort of an Ala Cart of cable. It makes me mad that part of my cable bill goes toward the MTV scum.

Prominent African-Americans are getting upset at MTV NOW?

Have they missed the last 15 years of Rap and Hip-hop videos?

Change the channel and don't let your children watch MTV. Don't use the TV as a babysitter.

When MTV was new, it was criticized for not showing blacks.

Now, it's being criticized for showing blacks.

Young teens are children, and they're the target audience, that's kinda the point. If younger (age in the single digits) kids are watching - the bigger story is why they're allowed to.

WHAT!?

Yes, in a startling revelation, parents have recently learned that they actually have responsibility over what their children do, and can actually take an active role in raising them. The 'but I'm really busy' excuse is all played out.

MTV, VH-1, CMT -- all used to be about music.

Now they program garbage that has little if anything to do with music.

Don't like the position, the leash, the defecating? Don't watch TV.
I use mine for videos, dvd's, and a warm place for the cat to lounge. No cable, no propaganda, no cussing, no crapping. If everybody just shut it off, pretty soon the programmers and the media would clean themselves up and be begging you to take them back at a fraction of the price.

I wonder how many people read the rest of the article...it's a parody of an actual appearance by Snoop Dogg which was being criticized. Grievance grannies are so looking to be offended by everything, they can't recognize that to depict something is not the same as endorsing it.

Good advice. My family took this advice a long time ago and our tv is only used for carefully chosen dvds. My kids watch less tv than I did back in the 60s and 70s. However, we can't escape the net effect of TV and other mass media on the culture at large. The liberal dumbed-down, morally relativistic message is incessant. I recently watched a few episodes of CSI on a hotel TV and I was...I don't know what the word is...intellectually offended by the idiotic unreality of the characters. Here were these beautiful models in skin-tight cleavage-baring outfits pretending to be hard-nosed brilliantly competent police investigators. Please...what happened to real people?
