A Palestinian militant fires toward Israeli troops during an arrest raid in the West Bank village of Qabatiyeh near Jenin, Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006. Four Palestinians were wounded when the army arrested an Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades militant, Palestinians sources said.
The report I read said some of them were 250+ feet deep, out of reach of all known conventional bunker busters.
Hence the need for new bunker busters.
Tactical nuke bunker busters were supposedly turned down by Congress. But a new design of conventional bunker buster is supposedly under development. I do not know how deep it can go, or even if it is ready. But the need would seem to be urgent.
I never tuned into her shows either...although I've heard of her. It's a shame Larry King is so out of it....to lose control of his own show. Neil Boortz couldn't get all his points across very well.
nite Tx...sweet dreams...
In this war, when IDF meets little resistence early on, that's prime time to start worrying.
Hezbollah is under orders to hide out and avoid committing contact, then sapper IDF half to death after israel relaxes even one iota.
Marjayoun sits squarely astride the only high quality road out of the Bekaa that exits south of the Litani.
The chances of Hezbollah letting it go without even a whimper are less than zero.
chill...it was meant in jest...
So do it over 3 nights. A miniseries, if you will. Like Roots.
We on FR know what's going on, but 99% of Americans have no clue who Ahmadinejad is, wouldn't recognize him or Khameini if you put their photo in front of them, have no clue about the Koran, about the history of Jihad going back to the Muslim Brotherhood and branching out to the Iranian Revolution starting in 1979.
I think if Bush were to lead a "teach in", by using his bully pulpit and educating the public over the span of a few nights, we'd be much better off

Israeli Official: Olmert to Hold Off on Broader Ground Offensive
I think Israel is just trying to pacify everything south of the Litani River so that they can accept no excuse from the UN and Lebanese troops if this new de-militarized zone fails in the future.
Quite true. And what have we done to Hezbollah in return? As far as I know the answer is NOTHING.
That is unless you count what we are doing for the Israelis in this war: selling them munitions while apologizing to the world (it was really a prior sale after all) and playing games with France and the UN that everyone but perhaps Condi and the MSM knows are going nowhere but provide a window in time for Israel to do what they have to do.
I just don't understand how the the United States of America can stand by and let little Israel fight our war with Iran/Syria and Hezbollah by themselves. Makes no sense to me at all. History will not look kindly on us for such foolishness. This is our war and we had better wake up and figure that out or we are going to lose it.

Visas that Should Have Been Denied
A look at 9/11 terrorists visa applications.
The cover story in National Review's October 28th issue (out Friday) details how at least 15 of the 19 September 11 hijackers should have been denied visas an assessment based on expert analyses of 15 of the terrorists' visa-application forms, obtained exclusively by NR.

High five, Sis.
Yeah and it bends to the left......
07:27 PM Olmert to update opposition leader Netanyahu on Thursday morning (Israel Radio)
Condi walked in there, got hammered on for several days, and then, just as she was making progress, got smacked down (and taken in) by the Qana masquerade.
There's a case to be made for the UN route, but without putting too fine a point on it, I'd rather see Rumsfeld or Abizaid making that particular case than Condi.
Sbow may well be snowing us, but ground truth has Olmert calling a halt to an invasion that never was. Something, whether Snow's statement, Shep's report, or something we know nothing about, changed Olmert's mind before he really even made it up...or did it?
If tonight's activity really was just a tactical adjustment, an idea I can't defend or explain without discussing current operations, then the offensive never did start, Olmert hadn't made that decision yet, didn't change his mind after all, is still covering all his options, and it's just easier to go with the story now breaking than try to educate repoirters on such a complicated series of events.
