Former state Rep. Tim Walberg defeated freshman U.S. Rep. Joe Schwarz on Tuesday night in the hotly contested 7th Congressional District Republican primary.
Schwarz, a Battle Creek surgeon, conceded the race after 11 p.m. With 68 percent of the district's precincts reporting, Walberg had 55 percent, or 24,564 votes, to Schwarz's 45 percent, or 19,739 votes.
The contest, which has drawn national attention, represented an ideological clash between Schwarz, a moderate, and Walberg, who was one of the most conservative state lawmakers during his 16 years in the state House.

Its funny that the talking heads can talk about nothing but loserman, and how the country is turning left, but they ignore an incumbent RINO getting crushed by a much larger %.

Whew, that's a relief. I didn't know Utah was so conservative. JK :pGotta Love Utah. Clinton finished 3rd in the presidential election of 1996 in Utah. God Bless UTAH!!!

Michigan Secretary of State has "Walberg". Perhaps Terri Lynn Land has it wrong also?

The country club set in the Republican Party is still lib...oooopps...moderate. They really hate the power that the real middle class exercises in the Party.

Excellent!
THIS is the way it's done - - clean up the GOP by purging the scumbag liberals, one by one.

I live here in conservative Idaho and have to tip my hat to Utah. We are all red in all but one of the Idaho counties. Wanna guess which county? Oh, yeah, that little liberal bastion known as Sun Valley.

Very true, but, it only works out when the district is conservative enough to elect them in Nov.
The 7th is very conservative, Schwartz getting elected last time was a fluke, 6 way split of the Republican vote in the primary and the RAT crossover all voted for Schwartz.

I subscribe to the NRA and GOA email alerts, and I note that NRA endorsed Schwarz while GOA backed Walberg. I don't know more than that about either one but where NRA and GOA differ I go with the latter. So on that issue it looks as though the right guy won.

Ha! Interesting commentary at the link.
NRA has the numbers, money, and power, but while they mostly help the cause at the national level, they do sell out sometimes. That's why we need, and I also support, GOA.

Tim Walberg has a NRA A+ lifetime rating, I don't understand why they would endorse an anti- gunner like Schwartz, just because he hasn't screwed them in 2 years??
Last I knew Schwartz had a NRA B- rating.
Schwartz voted with the Humane Society as much as he voted with GOA, thats not someone I want in office!

The NRA always goes with the incumbent, including Democrats.
The GOA goes for the best supporter of gun rights.
