Walberg defeats Schwarz in congressional race (MI-7)
Lansing State Journal ^ | 8/8/06

Posted on 08/08/2006 9:11:07 PM PDT by LdSentinal

Former state Rep. Tim Walberg defeated freshman U.S. Rep. Joe Schwarz on Tuesday night in the hotly contested 7th Congressional District Republican primary.

Schwarz, a Battle Creek surgeon, conceded the race after 11 p.m. With 68 percent of the district's precincts reporting, Walberg had 55 percent, or 24,564 votes, to Schwarz's 45 percent, or 19,739 votes.

The contest, which has drawn national attention, represented an ideological clash between Schwarz, a moderate, and Walberg, who was one of the most conservative state lawmakers during his 16 years in the state House.

Woohoo! This will be a nice upgrade for the Michigan republican congressional delegation.

It looks like Butler is losing badly in the Senate primary. I was hoping he would have a better showing.

One RINO down. And he's needed to go away for a while.

Yes, now this moderate MUST endorse the conservative to ensure he wins the regular election.

Still waiting for leftist AA to put in their total faudulent votes, but it can't overcome the will of the whole district.

When the nonsense in CT is over, this will hopefully emerge as news. While Lamont wins in commie CT, something about Sharpton and Jackson on the podium is not going to help Hillary.

anyone else feel complete disgust that republicans spent a million dollars trying to defeat the true conservative in this race -- money that could have been spent winning against democrats. What is with this clowns.

Michigan's 7th district is more conservative than Utah, Walberg will win easily in Nov.

It's going to have reverse coattails too.

Who knew that a particular district is going to toss out the gubner too!

Thanks for the numbers.

I knew walberg would win. I wonder what the numbers would be without all the RAT crossover for Schwartz?

And oh, for the sake of those in the MSM and Rio Linda, it's 'Wahlberg,' not "Walberg."
