"Outside of one solitary issue (Iraq), this man is as blue-state liberal as Kerry and Kennedy."

Lieberman is of an order of magnitude better than Lamont.
Heck, putting Lamont in the US Senate is like putting Cindy Sheehan or Goerge Soros there.
Sucker is a complete moonbat.

So in typical moderate Republican fashion, and so as to not antagonize our Democrat friends down at the country club, we should concede this seat to the Democrates just to prove what good sports we are?

"Watch for the next Quinnipiac Poll. "

Will be interesting to see what that poll says.

The Clintons involvement was totally and completely political. Hillary voiced support but wouldn't get within a camera frames distance to Joe. Bill shows up and tries desparately to save Joe because he knows that a bloodletting of pro-war Dems will hurt Hillary. Hillary now has to 'back' the democrat candidate but Bill will do her dirty work and go out and cover for her with the 'moderates' by appearing at the DLC or somewhere else to create a plausible position for Hillary to occupy.

If it were just for the PR, the Clintons would be considered experts at their craft. But considering that this is actually their own personal lives and they are angling to take over the US government again, I don't find it at all admirable.

I think not only does he win, he stomps Lamont in the general election. The GOP candidate was lackluster (the GOP governor suggested he drop out), and so I think a lot of Republicans will vote for Joe, as well as his core supporters. He'll take enough of the independants to make it look easy. This is gonna sting the Dems in the long run...Joe might be tempted to Caucus with the GOP if the conditions are right, and those conditions are lining up nicely (lack of Dem party support, increasing influence of pro-Palestinian Jew haters in the Dem ranks). In fact, American Jews have to be taking notice of what's going on here...they're doubtless aware of all of the "America's Jew Masters in Israel" crap being spewed at DailyKos and DemocraticUnderground...it might have a profound effect on their thinking.

If things turn around in Baghdad, Joe could still win.

There is no Republican in Connecticut with name recognition outside of the governor. The last guy that ran against Lieberman is in jail for the next 20 years (he deserved it). That is another story that I won't mention here.

"No way, it's a Democratic state"

I'm sure that's news to their Governor (GOP) and state legislature (2/3rds GOP).

I think Lieberman would rather see the Republican win than the Democrat.

Maybe Joe should have switched to Republican. :>

I agree. But I also like seeing the Dems getting it stuck to them in November over this - if Joe goes ahead with it.

Forty two percent of registered Democrats voted in the hotly contested primary, which many considered a referendum on the Iraq war.

The world is watching the hotly contested race, which many view as a referendum on the Iraq War and President Bush.

Gosh, twice in the same article...do you suppose this could have been a referendum on the Iraq war ???

Sounds more like a referendum among Democrats on the Iraq war, and only about half of the less-than-half who bothered to vote said "no". Not a very conclusive referendum actually, IMHO.

From http://www.newhavenindependent.org/archives/2006/08/lamont_crushes_1.php :

"""
As civil-rights leader Jesse Jackson put it to a TV reporter in the Lamont hall, natonally, "Democrats ... can no longer be wolves in sheep's clothing."
"""

Thanks, Jesse. I'm looking forward to having a flock of sheep defending us. </sarcasm>

Lieberman changes his party affiliation from Dem to Independent tomorrow

And this was the guy they put forth as a Vice Presidential Candidate, only a few short years ago. Amazing!
