The FBI has issued an urgent nationwide alert for 11 Egyptian students who entered the United States last week but failed to show up for their courses at Montana State University.
An FBI advisory says there are, at present, no known connections to any terrorist group but that the students are to be "approached with caution" and taken into custody. They "are here illegally and wanted for questioning," the advisory says.
The advisory comes just over a month before the five-year anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks on the United States.
"This is of very serious concern and is being closely tracked," said Rep. Peter King (R-NY), Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee.
The FBI says the Egyptians arrived at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York on July 29 and disappeared. The advisory says the alert is nationwide but that there is specific concern the Egyptians may be on the Eastern Seaboard.
According to the advisory the 11 missing Egyptians are:
1. Ibrahim, El Sayed Ahmed Elsayed; DOB OF 4/29/1986.
2. El Dessouki, Eslam Ibrahim Mohamed; DOB OF 02/21/1985.
3. El Bahnasawi, Alaa Abd El Fattah Ali; DOB OF 04/02/1986.
4. Abd Alla, Mohamed Ragab Mohamed; DOB OF 02/15/1984.
5. El Laket, Ahmed Refaat Saad El Moghazi; DOB OF 09/01/1986.
6. El Ela, Ahmed Mohamed Mohamed Abou; DOB OF 02/02/1985.

I hope the foster families of the 6 students who actually bothered to show up have a speed dial to the FBI to report any suspicious stuff.
KEY words from your post: "..with no resources.."
If they stay out of sight much longer- it will be clear they have plenty of resources.
Egypt and Jordan are about the only Arab countries who would would allow someone w/ an Israeli stamp on their passport into their country.
"Ahgrrr! Stripped out/unregistered 2006 van - follow the money!
GPS/laptop - follow the computer tracks!"
GRRRRRRRRR
One can only hope that they let them go in order to track them, especially seeing they didn't confiscate any of the contents of the van. As I said, one can hope.....
From Bernard Lewis, quoted here.
"What is the significance of Aug. 22? This year, Aug. 22 corresponds, in the Islamic calendar, to the 27th day of the month of Rajab of the year 1427. This, by tradition, is the night when many Muslims commemorate the night flight of the prophet Muhammad on the winged horse Buraq, first to "the farthest mosque," usually identified with Jerusalem, and then to heaven and back (c.f., Koran XVII.1). This might well be deemed an appropriate date for the apocalyptic ending of Israel and if necessary of the world. It is far from certain that Mr. Ahmadinejad plans any such cataclysmic events precisely for Aug. 22. But it would be wise to bear the possibility in mind."
That's exactly right. It's one thing to hop the border to your neighboring country, where you're not really out of place, and your language is spoken to a degree. It's another entirely to fly across the planet, walk out of the airport, and then disappear into your surroundings. Especially when you're 20, and presumably have no money, family, travel papers, language skill or education.
Multiply that problem x 11, set the FBI after your, and then try and stay under the radar. If you're still off the map this time next month, odds are you had the local hookup ready before you ever got on that plane.
A birthday in 1986 would make you 19 or 20 which would put you in your So or Jr year.
Between the 11 of them the name Mohamed shows up 8 times.
OOPS..never mind...but you get my gyst!
I finished my MBA at 42. These punks are just kids.
Put their pictures up.
Put a bounty on them.
No bountyhunting license required.
They will come in.
only three days left....
Not in Detroit or Kansas City.
Oh .. now they want to enforce immigration laws
I'm going to call Peter King tomorrow. It is a DISGRACE that ANY of these people are given visas to come here. I don't care if 99.9999999% of them are as pure as the driven snow, it only takes ONE bad one. This should have ended on 9/12/2001.
NO KIDDING??? I came in from outside a few minutes ago and decided to send an e-mail to Myword (Gibson) as I had forgotten him in my list of e-mails I sent.
Maybe others have been deluging FOX with e-mails too. I'm watching now...

"Seventeen students, all males ages 18 to 22, were chosen by Mansoura University, a 13,000-student university in a suburb of Cairo, to attend a new cultural exchange program at MSU, said Cathy Conover, MSU spokeswoman.
They were to study here for 32 days, learning about American history, culture and language. The program cost the students about $2,000 each.
A U.S. State Department consulate official interviewed each student before awarding them visas, Peterson said.
The students were supposed to take connecting flights on July 29 through JFK International Airport in New York to Montana, but only one made it to Bozeman. A second arrived July 30 and four more showed up on July 31, Conover said.
On July 31, she said, MSU notified Mansoura University and U.S./Homeland Security officials of the missing 11 students.
MSU e-mailed the students Aug. 2, informing them that they had 24 hours to show up, or they would be reported to the SEVIS federal database on foreign students.
The six students who arrived are taking MSU courses as planned, Conover said.

"You would think wherever they are they would be sticking out like sore thumbs!"
Are you kidding? If they had gone on to Montana, as expected, they'd probably stick out like sore thumbs there. If they merely hopped over the Hudson River to Northern New Jersey, they'll fit right in!
