Christian Group pledges $9m for northern Israel

The Chicago-based International Fellowship of Christians and Jews pledged Tuesday to contribute $9 million to hard-hit residents of northern Israel.

The funds will provide monetary assistance to 1,500 families whose homes were damaged by the 3,000 Katyusha rockets Hizbullah has rained on northern Israel during the month-old war, and will include, among other things, the renovation and reconstruction of a damaged school, and the distribution of clothing.

Half of the money will be earmarked for various reconstruction projects in the north in the future based on need, and in coordination with local authorities, the group said in a press release.

The organization said that it has raised nearly $5 million in emergency relief aid from Christian supporters of Israel in the United States since the start of the war last month.

Actually the organization was founded by Rabbi Eckstein (yes, the same one you see in tv commercials lately). It really is an association of both Christians and Jews! Everything I've learned about Judaism, I've learned it from books I got from them.

The funds are raised to support Israel. The solution would be to not raise the funds in the first place, not to divert them.

Whether or not Christians, and it's not all of them, supporting Israel will cease because it makes Arabs dislike them, I don't know, personally I'm skeptical.

Unfortunately, until the Hezbos are removed from the government/military in Lebanon, you can't guarantee that the money would ever reach the people who need it. Also, the Hezbos would just come a kick these poor folks ouot of the new structures and hide weapons caches in them.

I was listening to a lady from Lebanon the other day on Immaculate Heart Radio and she said that the Christians cannot speak out against the Hezzies because they target and murder their family members if they do. She said the only reason that she could speak out is that she is an orphan and does not put anyone else in jeopardy. She said that Christians, Druze and moderate Muslims are a cheering section for Israel, although a very quiet one. They want to get rid of the Hells-bo-allah as badly as Israel but are terrified of them.
