That is friggin right. How stupid, how utterly stupid. For at least a little while, they will make a living in liberal circles - until the crowd moves onto something else.
"Goodbye, Natalie."
TeeHeeHee.
Choices and consequences, babes.
More glee for thee and me.
I just cant post this enough! :D
" negotiating the now-postponed dates, the band balked at a guaranteed nightly fee of around $500,000 because the tour's promoter, Anschutz Corp.'s AEG Live, would give them only 90 percent of the ultimate gross of the show. Instead, they negotiated a deal for 95 percent of the door with no guarantee -- a move that backfired when it became clear that ticket sales were below expectations. AEG Live Chief Executive Randy Phillips couldn't be reached for comment."

This was also posted on www.hitsdailydouble.com on 6/9...
"On the other hand, execs at Dixie Chicks tour promoter AEG are very visibly high-fiveing one another after manager Simon Renshaw and the band turned down a 90/10 split and $30 million guarantee in favor of a 95/5 arrangement, which may have cost them as much as $20 million, with advance ticket sales reportedly soft in several Red State markets. (6/9p) (www.hitsdailydouble)
So there ya have it...so far they have lost at least $20 Million from this debacle. :D
"No, no...all of those tour dates were in cities that were too hot, and they cancelled so that their fans wouldn't have to go outside and sweat on the way to the theater. Considerate chicks, eh?"
So the tour will begin again 'when hell freezes over'?
They should endorse Liebermann
Need a picture of Baghdad Bob saying, "There is no reduction in the Chick's concert total... we are having the same number of concernts...."
Ha

HA!
Free speech comes in many, many forms. One of them is the silent scream of the customer who doesn't buy your tickets.
Good post to an obvious jerk.
I really am pretty sure that inside she totally regrets it. No way she wanted politics to destroy her career. Well, it's not really politics, it's her utter lack of any sense about patriotism, or her audience. Whatever. She'll long regret her big mouth.
>>I expected the Chicks would not sell well in the south....The Midwest too -- the heartland --
Which is probably 1/2 to 3/4 of the country music market. Question for the Ditzy Chicks: Who do you think Texans are ashamed of?

Presumably, according to some prior interviews, the Chicks are looking for another market. I don't know what....folk music? Based on their concert sales, I don't even think the hippie peace and love music crowd wants them. That's pretty bad.
Either people are listening to them in the privacy of their homes only (yet unwilling to buy a ticket to a concert)-or, the sales figures are grossly overstated.
The chicks aren't turning up on talk shows or other venues, which is a good indication their album is not as in demand as the distributor claims.
They are washed up, for now. It didn't help that they launched the new album with more controvery and by insults aimed at conservatives and President Bush.
Push real hard.
"I first heard the Yoopers on WLS when Lujack was promoting them (back when I had hair), some of their stuff is great."
God, I'm glad at least one FR got the joke!!!! :-)
Better put some ice on that, ladies. *mwheh*
Oh, this is so sad... poor little Dixie Chicks..
