Mark Levin's interview of LGF’s Charles Johnson
Mark Levin Fan site ^ | August 7, 2006 | contributor

For all those having trouble logging onto Little Green Footballs to read about the latest photo fudge and double-fudges by Reuters photographers, Mark Levin led off his show last night by discussing with Charles Johnson how the original story broke.

In addition, they spoke about the Reuters photos of the lady in Lebanon whose house was totally destroyed twice in 15 days by Israeli air strikes and another Lebanese lady who Reuters photographed and reported as having lost two husbands in 17 days. Mark also asked him about the recent threats Johnson received from a Reuters employee.

... Footballs of truth bombs raining down on Reuters : )

CNN website has the story, too!

http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/08/07/reuters.photog.reut/index.html

"Questions about the accuracy of the photograph arose after it appeared on news Web sites on Saturday.

Several blogs, including a number which accuse the media of distorted coverage of the Middle East conflict, said the photograph had been doctored."

Pajamahadeen does it again!! Well done, very well done.

Their new policy is, "We'll only bash Israel with photos that can't be proven to be doctored."

Several years ago "Wired" magazine did a story on the dangers of digital pictures being used for news reports. They pointed out that a good manipulation of the picture would be near to impossible to detect and that digital photos were totally unreliable at that point. They even made the case for making pictures to fit the news. Seems they were right and that is just what is starting to happen. Luckily these cases are poorly done but how many are very well done and undetected. Their idea was that only actual film photos should be used for news reporting so authenticity could be verified.

The sad fact is that the news doesn't have to alter pictures. They slant issues every day by being selective about the stories they report. I would be willing to bet that the stories about the woman losing her husband or her home weren't offset by stories about loss and suffering on the Israeli side. Then they wonder why people are skeptical about the press - before the internet they had complete control and I'm sure they resent being one-upped by the common (in their minds "ignorant") man.

How about every reuters picture is required to have the "not-altered written guarentee" next to the photo credit.

A spokesmen for Reuters said "Next time we hire a photographer we need to send him to a PhotoShop course and he has to pass testing. We can't have these amateurs messing everything up."

Bam, Fox just televised three other photos we're working on... re: staging of sites by Hizzies. About time they got to the staging. Ping me to any staging videos you come across. Thanks.

HELP!

I've read LGF, Malkin, etc. and of course, the FR tthreads...

But what is the BEST, most CONCISE, compilation that discusses both the F16, smoking Beirut, Green Helmet etc. all in one place without too much detail that would be good for emailing out to the great unwarshed!?!?

I get it, you get it, but what about your granny's friend that watches Nightly News? I haven't really found a single site that has an explanation tailored to them, and I don't think I'm capable either.

Any recommendations?
