Our country, including the government—heck, especially the government—is so firmly in the iron grip of political correctness that all else is secondary. No matter the issue, it's inviolably paramount that no minorityillegalalienthomosexualdisaffectedinanywayindividual be offended or inconvenienced, lest someone somewhere accuse us of being mean. And it's becoming more apparent by the day that nothing short of cataclysm is gonna weaken that grip. Add that to the fact that the government is a self-feeding bloated machine, and it's zero surprise that insanity like this is still rolling on its merry way.
