AN IRAQI Army medic told a US military hearing yesterday that he was sick for weeks after finding the charred body of an Iraqi girl who was allegedly raped and murdered by five US soldiers.
The medic testified on the opening day of a hearing to decide whether the five soldiers should be court martialled for the murder of Abeer al-Janabi, 14, her five-year-old sister and their parents on March 12 in the town of Mahmoudiya, south of Baghdad.
The medic, whose identity is secret, told the hearing at a US army base in Baghdad that he was the first person to enter the girls home after the incident. He found she had been killed by a single bullet under her left eye. Her murderers had set her body on fire in an apparent attempt to destroy evidence of their crime.
In an adjoining room, he found her younger sister, Hadeel, had been shot through the head. The girls father, Qassim, and their mother, Fikhriya, had also been killed. He said that the scene made him sick for weeks.
The case is the fifth being pursued by the US military against its own troops in Iraq.
The five soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division are accused of drinking, changing into civilian clothes and abandoning their checkpoint in the so-called Triangle of Death to go to the house of the girl, whom they had seen walking past their position.
They could face the death penalty if found guilty. One, Steven Green, has already been discharged from the military for a personality disorder and will be tried in a US civilian court.
A former reporter with the US Army newspaper Stars and Stripes wrote last week that in an interview before the murders Green had told him that killing people is like squashing an ant.
I came over here because I wanted to kill people, Green, 21, said in The Washington Post. The truth is, it wasnt all I thought it was cracked up to be. I mean, I thought killing somebody would be this life-changing experience. And then I did it, and I was like, All right, whatever. I mean, you kill somebody and its like, All right, lets go get some pizza.
Guerrillas kidnapped two soldiers from the same unit in June, torturing and killing the men in what they claimed was revenge for the girls rape and murder.
There are at least 3 other people who have claimed they were the first ones to enter the house.
He found she had been killed by a single bullet under her left eye.
The US investigator Bierce testified that Pvt. Barker told him (in his alleged confession that his lawyer is contesting) that Green shot the woman several times.
I wonder why AP wonder boy Ryan Lenz or this author did not bother to point out the contradictions between the Iraqi medics findings and Bierce's testimony. Or that the MSM had a series of long winded stories interviewing people who claimed to be the first to arrive.

Are we supposed to believe that? That wouldn't be too conspicuous.
That's what the affidavit says.
If you are ever bored and need something to read, this thread has tons of info.

Yep. Big American soldiers, some of them possibly people of color, are going to change into civilian clothes so they can look just like Iraqis while they commit rape, murder, arson and then split. Yep. That would really fool a lot of people. < / sarcasm>
You can shoot a dead person, and Barker said that after shooting her the first time she was shot again. His comments were linked on Drudge earlier today, but aren't there now.
"Suddenly, the group heard gunshots, and Green came out of the bedroom holding an AK-47 rifle and declared: Theyre all dead. I just killed them, according to the statement.
Green then raped the girl while Cortez held her down, Barkers statement said. Green picked up the AK-47 and shot the girl once, paused, then shot her several more times, Bierce said, quoting Barkers statement."

Yeah. The "Iraqi goons" fabricated the admissions by two American soldiers that they raped the girl and that Green killed the entire family.
Barker allegedly said, according to Investigator Bierce's testimony, that Green shot her once, paused, then shot her several more times. This medic said she had a single gunshot wound.
This medic also said he was the first person to arrive after the incident. That is not true.
This medic said also said that her body was burned from her waist to her head.
Another "witness" who arrived on the scene "first", Omar Janabi, said that she was burned from her waist down to her feet.

Howdy Sink. Thought I might see ya here. You only have 10 mins to abuse me before I call it a night. LOL
It doesn't make sense. I'm honing in on a possible explanation, but I want to hear the defense first.
If they all plead guilty, then I obviously will be wrong. If they all plead not guilty, then my theory will have merit.
.
I also would not be shocked if the "confessions" are/were extracted under duress. I do not trust the military authorities in this, or the other cases. Thery are being pressured from upon high in the civilian leadership.
Is this guy about the 12th person who was "first on the scene"...???
This is getting more ridiculous. I saw your other pings, too, and I'm trying to absorb all this new misinformation...heh heh ... as I recall, the defense has been barred from quizzing the Iraqi "witnesses." WTF?!
Everything seems to be stacked in favor of the Iraqis telling the story their way and getting what they want.
Bierce is now saying there were allegedly 3 rapists, while the affidavit indicated 2.
I agree with Marine Uncle that we're looking at fabrication upon fabrication but I am not as sure our troops will be vindicated.
It is too coincidental that so many charges and cases have come against our troops within a few months' period.
This is a small part of a bigger picture.
AP: "U.S. officials have said they were concerned it could strain relations with Iraq's new government if Iraqis perceive that the soldiers receive lenient treatment."
