Appeals for posthumous promotion R. Kuklinski
07.08.2006
Polish war veterans want the late colonel Ryszard Kulinski, the man who had warned the US about plans to impose martial law in Poland back in 1981, to be posthumously promoted.
This may happen already on August 15, when President Lech Kaczynski will present nominations to newly appointed generals. The presidents chief of staff Aleksander Szczyglo confirmed in a radio interview that many war veteran organizations are calling for the promotion of Ryszard Kuklinski. He added that such a promotion would be absolutely justified because colonel Kuklinski deserves to be a general in free Poland.
Ryszard Kuklinski cooperated with the American intelligence and NATO for 11 years, during which he handed over to the West about 35 thousand documents from the Soviet Army and the Warsaw Pact headquarters. He did not accept any pay for that.
A genuine patriot! A statue or three might be in order too!
